Christians - What do you believe about Armageddon?
by JayBird ini've always wondered what mainstream christianity's viewpoint is in regards to armageddon.
i understand there's no timetable.
but that sense of urgency that exists with jws doesn't seem to be there either.

Thank for posing this question! I've wondered about that too.
But most christians I asked don't give it much attention. Most don't know, since it doesn't have much importance to them. As a jw I thought, this is another proof that we have the truth... Satan has blinded the world... the end is near!!... ...reading Luke 21:8 even the bible disagrees with jws!
So I too look forward to more christian comments.

The Pope apologized
by sspo inthe pope humbly apologized to the victims of sexual abuse and showed his concern and pain that they went thru.. are we ever going to see anytime soon "the humble gb" showing the same concern for the young jw's that have been .
abused ?
don't hold your breath on that.. .

what the pope did was very poor, but at least he did it... the gb will not... it will take them a few more generations... and scandalous reports from the media...

Do JW's attract the mentally ill, or do their beliefs cause mental illness?
by gaiagirl inhave you observed a higher than normal number of mentall ill among jw's?
if so, do you think the religon attracts the mentally ill, or do you think that their beliefs and practices actually cause mental illness?.

I think both.
As a child I noticed that it was never the "good" people, but the very strange ones who became interested in the truth...
Many come in being mentally ill. The jw life makes it a lot worse and after they get too difficult to handle they get kicked out. This leaves them in an even more critical dangerous state. But at least their suicide serves as a warning example for the sheep-like ones...

California JWs -- Are they different than most JWs?
by B_Deserter ini've heard stories from people multiple times about their trips to california and how they were surprised to find out how lax the witlesses out there were concerning rules, behavior.
just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that.

I spent about a year in California, but never noticed much difference. In fact, I was amazed about how similar my host congregation was when I compared it to my home congregation. I found the same characters in the same positions. The big difference was FS. It was handled very lax even during the CO visit. And also the TMS, here in Germany you get counseling and criticism, in California it was more praise then anything else and little or no counselling. I favored the Germany way at that time.

Why was the "Manking Search For God" publication never a study book?
by truthseeker inany takers?.
i'm guessing it's because people might get too curious when covering the material and wonder about different religions..

hmm... I thought we studied it during the book study, but I'm not really sure now...
If it was not, then it might be because of the contents. Like mentioned, the book gives a bad picture of all other religions. But since it focuses on other religions, it does not have the needed amount of wt light, instructions and repetitions in order to
