hello all... from the new guy...
by wearewatchingyouman ini've been a lurker on this forum and others like it for a while... it's been a great resource for research... i finally decided to join one and found this one to be the best.... born and raised fourth gen. jw... dad's an elder and missionary... we did special needs work when i was a kid... mom was dfed when i was a young teen... usual story for a born in... half family jw half not on both mom and dad's side... we have some high rankers and some annointed in the family tree... brother is @ bethel... i left when i was 18 never baptised never a publisher... just played the role of respectful son until i could fade away as to not jepardize dad's position... a skeptic privately from a young age...blah blah blah.... .
anyways i'm here mostly just to socialize, debate dogma, learn from others and and give loving support.... 30 yr old dude...as far as my current beliefs i'm what you might call an agnostic theist.... anyways that's enough blabbing for now... just wanted to say hey and give a little intro....

Saw some JWs this am! Couldn't stop laughing
by Free!! inthis morning on my way to the office i decided to stop at the gas station to get some coffee.... as i am pulling into the parking space i see this woman w a haircut from the 80's the typical below the knee skirt and long sleeve shirt (is a 105 degrees over here in the shadow).... i immediatly knew she was a jw... she had the latest wt in her hands..... she skipped me and approached a group of young mexican laborers that were resting in the back of a truck... but... as soon as i walked out of the gas station... guess who was waiting for me???
the jw!!!
she wanted to do a presentation.. i looked at her and w/o saying a word i started laughing so hard the guys in the truck started laughing as well... she just looked at me and still kept trying to push her literatrash!!

I don't understand. Did you start laughing at her, because of her clothes, for being a jw or for trying to make a presentation?
Maybe the hole situation was indeed very humorous -I can't tell, since I was not there. I hope she did not feel humiliated. -

- I asked myself, how come I feel so empty even though I have the truth?
- Why don't I have true friends being part of the only true worldwide brotherhood?
- Do we really have the identifying mark of love?
- The elders are the biggest hypocrites. How can they be appointed by holy spirit?
- We criticise the churches of Christendom while child abuse cases are covered up! How can Jehovah allow that?
- In what way is the org being spirit directed by Jehovah?
- Why is there so much in the bible I feel disgusted about?
- Even though going to all the meetings and pioneering, why do I always feel guilty, lonely and depressed?

Funny childhood memory
by truthseeker1969 ini was discussing with my mother who is an active witness what i was like as a young jw kid.. she told me about the time there was a discussion way back in the early seventies about how armageddon would be a time of terror and there would be so much going on.. that night she said there was a terrible thunderstorm and she said the following morning i woke her up to tell her we "survived armageddon and could i please go play with the animals".
oh the life of a child!.

New 3D smurf movie
by jwfacts inthere is a smurf movie coming in july.
http://www.smurfhappens.com/ they look like the avatar in miniature.. do you think this time around jws will be able to see it, or are they still considered demonised?
will there be a new generation of kids hearing about smurfs running out of kingdom halls, and will they be told about it by the overlapping generation?.

Here in Germany the smurf stories were/are also told. A child took a smurf doll to the kh. During the meeting the doll came to life and walked out of the hall.
You would not be df for letting your kids play with smurfs, but you could lose your "good standing" for making your brother stumble. So it was a NO, NO for elders, MS and pioneers.
