growing up, i remember hearing stories from my own parents and others in the congregation about experiences with demons.

sister x wore a t-shirt that she purchased at a second hand store and the demons attached themselves to the shirt and gave her problems.

certain movies and/or cds would give a family problems.

Dido, I was never through it, but our father and others kept telling us many demon stories. I had a sleeping disorder because of that. Before he became a jw he was into astor projection. His father was a Lutheran minister who was supposed to be able to do miraculous things, which our father said he saw with his own eyes. Also, there was an Italian family we were close to and they told us about wt’s flying out of the bookshelves, fire in the room, and a carpet (gift by jws) being thrown out of the house, although it had furniture on top of it before. This happened when the parents started studying with jws (the opposite of your experience). Today I see things different, I see the same people with the eyes of an adult. I don’t believe in spirits.

Ray Franz CoC, was he in denial? Just asking.

i was reading a little coc last night where ray f. disusses the witch hunt at bethel that resulted in all the oustings.

as i read the doctrines that he questioned, (not judging him right or wrong), i noticed that he was questioning some of the fundamental beliefs of the wt.

ie: gov.

Willy, that makes a lot of sense. Coc also shows that the heavies are above the law.

i didn't even read your post. i surly didn't mean you and don't know you to make that judgment.

But as regards the stroies i was told and the induviduals i know that is my observation.

nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

what do you think? Is it realistic to say the wt leadership pointed to 1975? or was it r&f going over board?

Please give a reply on your thread. I was in awe when I first found those clear statments in the publications. Interestingly the wt Index does not take you the the ones posted on this thread.

Chlick: Urban Lore from the WT!

i have heared so many of these stories from childhood on. Also knowing a few persons who 'experienced' this personally. the fact of knowing the individuals convinces me that the stories are fully made up. Wouldn't mighty demons have better things to do. those individuals have serios problems and a desperat need for attention.

I remember a sentence in COC where RF mentions that it took him 60 years to realize the mistake, when others found out just by reading the bible.

I too wonder how one can have so many positions of oversight in the org, including gb, and not seeing the deceit used to lead the membership. He was brain-washed like we were. But as branch overseer and gb partook in the washing. Why does he not say much about the child abuse problem?

Yes, IMO he lived in denial and in COC he explains this about himself and the other gb members. He also mentioned that Knorr would not have dealt with him in the way the gb did when d’fing him.

I think authoritarian constructions are run not by individuals so much, but by the system that is developed over a certain time and the hanging on by its members to its self proclaimed significance.

Though, I don’t agree with his picture of blinded gb leading the rest. b/c there is too much evil energies, greed, purposely used deception, power lust and self-righteousness among the leader of the wt leaders.

I was a teenager in the 80ties, but do remember it being said that he wanted to rule the org and had to go. So it is good his book gave clarification to this.

What make his book so valuable and unique is that a cult leader writes about the inner workings of the wts. Other cults are being exposed too, but that one of its top men exposes is a very rare case, I know of no other. The time was good too, since he experienced the gb taking power. Also he being in the writing dept gave him much training to do that job effectively. As an individual he surly is the worst thing to happen to the wts.

i don't like what the mods do either sometimes, but just ignore it and try to keep your head down.

for what it is worth i read your review post about the book before it was deleted - and it prompted me, despite my prior reservations, to buy the book.

Well, I dont know what to think about # 12. There was also a thread recently about whishing for Paris Hilton's death and as far as I know it was not delited. So I am now a bit confused about the guidelines. I come here mainly to communicate with other ex jws.

Narkissos is one of the best posters for sure, it would be a great loss for us if he doesn't return. but I respect his decision, in case it was final (hope not).
