Auldsoul,
I am not quite understanding what you are getting at with the book of Enoch not being cannonized. Can you further explain?

Rutherford and 1914 "coming"
by Doug Mason ini have seen the 1929 book where rutherford stated that christ's parousia took place in 1874. .
in the course of my research, i have seen people claiming that during the 1920s, rutherford dated the "coming" of christ at 1914. .
i do not want to repeat hearsay, and would like to hear from people who have the original documents or verifiable photocopies.

Same research I have been doing, cool. This link was given to me which contained some scans. http://www.reexamine.org/quotes/1874.htm
Jehovah's Witnesses-Proclaimers of God's Kingdom, the astute reader will note at the top of page 47 that: "Barbour succeeded in convincing Russell that Christ's invisible presence had begun in 1874." And again, in the last paragraph on page 133 that: ". . . Russell also came to be persuaded that Christ's invisible presence had begun in 1874." This last statement contains a footnote reference which reads:
*. . . A clearer understanding of Biblical chronology was published in 1943, in the book The Truth Shall Make you Free, and it was then refined the following year in the book The Kingdom Is at Hand, as well as in later publications. -

Which site has the best info on 1874 return of Christ by Russell.
by icocer ini debated my jw coworker for hours today.
i threw the 1874 teaching into the mix and he said they thaught that for a very, very, very, short time.
he might be willing to see old watchtower scans that show the amount of years that the society (or should i say russell and rutherford) actually taught the doctrine.

Thanks everyone great finds I need to be prepared. Today I gave him the pages in his "Proclaimers book" that state that Russell had been talked into believing the return of Christ in 1874 and that the chronology was changed in 1943. The author of "Captives of a Concept" said that once he reads this that the "bell is rung".

Just bought a NIV- whose name should I call on, Jesus or Jehovah?
by becca1 ini'm reading romans currently and as a life long witness and nwt reader i've always read romans 10:13 as "anyone calling on the name of jehovah will be saved'.
niv says "jesus" and the context seems to suppoet this quite clearly.
