Hey everyone. Thanks. I'm so glad Jared told me about this website. I've already spent several hours just skimming through everything. There's alot of good information and its nice to have a support group even though I haven't been a JW in several years. I still feel like I missed out on my childhood, though. Fortunately, though, when I turned 16 my mom left my stepdad and she let me have friends inside and outside the congregation. This way I could figure things out for myself. She eventually decided it wasn't for her either. Today she's married to a woman and my whole family wisened up and left the JWs. That makes it easier 4 me.

Hey. I have even GREATER news !!! I'm Jared's friend that he found. I think I'm more excited than he is. After we talked, we found out that we both had a HUGE crush on each other, although I think Jared's had alot of crushes That's ok. He's sucha cutie he can get away with it. I can't wait to see him. You'd think I'd be a little nervous....ok..I am but definitely more excited !!!! I'm also glad he escaped the clutches of the JWs and I can talk to him and not the religeon

What are your reasons for not joining another religion?
by MARTINLEYSHON ini am going to start this debate of by saying that those of us who were raised in the so called truth, and i being one of them, can only come to terms with our past by accepting that our parents infected our minds like a virus infects a computer.
we wouldn't categorise children according to their parents' political stance, since they are too young to make up their minds about such matters.
but they (jw) segregate them from the world.

I have found that what I'm more comfortable believing is from a more spiritual approach, rather than a religeous approach. I believe in a higher power, but not necessarily the bible. I believe in reincarnation. The best book I ever read on the subject was called Journey of Souls. These beliefs are not your typical religeous church going beliefs. I believe it was better said.... I too...." am all religeoned out"...it wears me out just thinking of religeon and the bible. I've been to a couple of services, but just never felt the urge to stay....I even tried praying, but to no avail. It is just no longer in me.
I believe church is good for those who need it, I just feel I'm over it.

Were YOU Gossiped About In The Congregation?
by minimus indo you know who the worst offenders were??
the elders.
the elders, because they were "shepherds and overseers" believed they had the right to talk about you, your family, your job, your personality and so forth.....they pick apart any male in the hall under the guise of seeing whther someone "might qualify for privileges".

It's funny that as much as they preach love and fellowship, I never saw one person cry over losing a friend who got disfellowshipped, unless it was blood family....It was more like a soap opera and the closer you were to a disfellowshipped person, the more exciting it was to have the juicier bit of gossip.
I remember stupid lies that got passed around. I remember being 12 and getting a pair of hand me down high heels from my sister. I remember being so excited about my first pair of (low) high heels, but when I walked by a group of sisters (pioneers) I saw them pointing at my shoes, and overheard them comment about what a slut I looked like.....I was only 12 !!! I never wore those shoes to the KH again.
