AS,
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Just get through this awful time as best you can. Try to get as much rest as you can. I hope your new job goes well for you.

A Connection Between Sickness and JW Lifestyle
by choosing life ini've noticed several people on this board mention they have fms and similar type afflictions.
fms is known to be brought about by physical/emotional stress.
i have suffered from it for many years.

Everyone has potential health weaknesses, physical or mental. I think the stress of trying to be a perfect JW will eventually find that weakness, and the seam will blow. For me, it was depression and stomach troubles.

Everyone has a song
by Wordly Andre ineveryone has a song that reminds them of a particular moment in their lives, happy or sad or sometimes indifferent.
its only that when you hear that song it takes you back even catching you off guard and suddenly your back in high school or remembering someone you loved and lost.
how many of you have a song that reminds you of leaving the org.

Women in the Org.
by snarf indoes anyone know of any links or have any info on women's role in the congregation and why the jw are either right or wrong?
i always felt they were wrong, but it was always just a gut feeling.
does anyone have any info on if any women held positions of authority during the bible times concerning a congregation.

***In many churches today (as well as societies) woman are treated as second-class citizens.***
I agree with your statement except for the "many" churches. What churches offer FULL equality to women (not just given a few extra privileges here and there)? I don't know of any. -

Anyone from Northampton or Milton Keynes in here? Fancy a free lunch?
by nicolaou ini'd really like to know if any of my old friends are hanging around in here.
i know how scary it is to even think of revealing yourself so if it helps just send me a private message.
perhaps we could meet up for lunch or a drink sometime.. i was in northampton until 1988 when i moved to milton keynes and became 'inactive' in 2000. don't worry, i know how to keep my mouth shut if that's important to you.

Does anyone know if this article is true or not?
by Keyboard22 inclick here: u-turn on blood policy
u-turn on blood policy .
jehovah's witnesses are now allowed to accept blood transfusions without facing excommunication from their faith.
-

***while the abstention from blood products is still a major tenet of the JW religion, since the punishment has been downgraded (namely from excommunication to forgiveness/counseling)***
Isn't the Society's stance that JWs who allows blood transfusions automatically DA themselves?? They aren't DFed (excommunicated) anymore in order to protect the WTS from lawsuits??
The person making this statement doesn't seem aware of the DA policy. -

One. But before he does, he must first......
1. Check biblical precedents for changing a lightbulb.
2. In the absence of direct scriptural support, he must check the Watchtower to find out if changing a lightbulb is a DFing offense or a "matter of conscience."
3. If the Watchtower is silent on the matter, he must consult the elders.
4. He must then be interrogated by the elders for hours, who demand detailed information about the bulb, including its size, wattage, and the reason it needs to be changed.
5. He must object to the elders' questioning him about a personal maintenance matter in his own home.
6. He must then be brought before a JC and DFed for independent thinking and defiance.
7. He is shunned by his family, who refuse to discuss lightbulbs with him.
7. Feeling upset and betrayed, he comes to this site and finds out he had the right to change the lightbulb all along.
8. He changes the lightbulb.
9. He feels liberated. -

sosad,
Soglad you posted; it could not have been easy. Your experiences with JWs should alert any lurker with half a brain to question the WTS's audacity in dictating when medical care is appropriate for its followers. I hope your recovery and life continue to improve. -

The middle initial is far less pretentious than a first initial, as in "J. Alfred Prufrock."
