  Help Me with JW wife

  my jw wife is trying to push me out of the family home.

  i am an inactive jw for about 5 years and she has begun putting pressure on me to leave.

  do you have any articles for me to fight her with?

  Paradoxically, if you started beating her, the elders would probably encourage her to stay with you, because then she'd be the poor, persecuted JW wife who has to stay with you to "give a good witness" to Jehovah's sacred marriage covenant.
  Becoming an alcoholic would work too.

  How many people have you SAVED from the JWs?

  ok, maybe the word "saved" is inappropriate.... in my case, i would have to count three.

  two of my best friends from when i was growing up who initially resisted my questions and apostate leanings but are now free of the borg and have confided it was our conversations that led to their de-programming.

  and, my sister, through pretty much the same circumstances.

  Right after I left the JWs, several of my friends followed almost immediately. But I can't take credit for that--they had been harboring their own doubts for a while, and my leaving gave them the courage to leave, too. Maybe they thought a group exodus would diffuse the JW blame, so no one would get the full brunt of disapproval.
  Even as a JW, I was such a reluctant witness that I don't think anyone became a JW because of me. So in a very indirect way, I may have "saved" someone because of my total lack of enthusiasm.
  Yeah, I'm real hero material. :-)

  wow, it's been forever since i posted on here.

  anyway, in the last three years i've managed to completely separate myself from the jw way of thinking.

  at this point, i know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's crap, and their teachings mean nothing to me... but my best friend made a terrible mistake, so i need some advice regarding his situation.. .

  Whatever your friend decides to do, make sure he resolves this mess BEFORE having any children. It's one thing for adults (presumably) to behave like idiots. To inflict idiocy on children is irresponsible and cruel.
  My advice to the friend would be to run away from this mess while he still can.

  Tips for electric oven/ceramic hobs?

  i am now about to buy a new electric oven and ceramic electric hobs so if anyone has advice and tips on these devices let us know.

  the oven will be bosch or siemens with triple glass on the door and of course fun assisted, that way food cooks faster and better as a crust is created quickly on the surface of food and seals in the juices, eg meats come out very succulent and tender.

  also there is no need to turn food round.

  when i was a kid (long time ago), wally gobitis used to visit our cong occasionally.

  for those not familiar with gobitis, here's a quick jw history refresher: .

  back in the late 1930s gobitis, a jw, was sued by the minersville board of education when his children refused to salute the flag in school.

  Fourth of July

  i was just wondering.......i know jw are not allowed to celebrate the fourth, in fact it can we a jc issue, but where we live there is a huge celebration downtown and every year i see 90% of the witnesses i know down there, "not celebrating".

  they are doing the same thing all the other "wordly" people are doing to celebrate the fourth...and alot of times jw will buy fireworks and let them off the day before, as if thats different.....how do they justify this???

  does anyone else have anything around them that jw will participate in but not call celebrating????

  Accepting gifts just before or after Christmas so as not to participate in the celebration itself.
  Attending Memorial Day parades, but not waving little flags, so not really celebrating.
  Eating turkey the day before or after Thanksgiving, because, after all, the turkeys are on sale then.

  i spoke with a well placed, highly responsible brother some weeks ago, who didn't care for my opinions about corruption "from the.

  bottom all the way to the top" in the organization.

  he defended the society against every accusation i made but was stopped short by one.

  Do you think the JWs' sense of urgency could have anything to do with truthseeker's post (rumor?) that the gb will be making an important announcement this fall? If this uneasiness is becoming pervasive throughout the org, then maybe the gb feels pressured to do something to allay their fears.
