Warm, crisp, apfelstrudl with warm cream poured over it at an outdoor beer garden in Munich in September. Every bite a revelation.

What makes a chick crazy?
by serendipity ini've heard of men over the years complain about crazy chicks, but they don't always explain.
so here's the chance:.
what makes a girl/women crazy or psycho in your eyes?

Chicks go crazy if the brooder lights aren't at the right temperature, and if they're not fed hot grain mash 3 times a day. Fresh water must always be available too.

***The thing is, I'm so tired of grieving. It seems like I've grieved for so long.***
That's a good sign. In my (thankfully) few times of grieving, I've found that when you're getting weary with grieving, it often means you're starting to recover from it. -

How do we define a "Victim of the Watchtower" ?
by kid-A inmany of us ex-jws feel like victims, regardless of our personal background with the watchtower.. however, how do we define a "victim" of the jws?
i have often felt that the only true victims were the "born-in" children of the jws who through an accident of birth, have been forced to endure watchtower brainwashing from infancy onwards.
in addition, we had to endure the barren existence and public humiliations of a typical jw child as our parents forced us "to be no part of the world"....... should we consider adult converts to the watchtower in the same light?

The only true WT victims are the children who were raised in it from birth. They are the innocents who had absolutely no choice about what they learned, and are the ones who have the hardest time coping when they leave the org as adults.
Adults who become JWs are more nebulous to category. I think of them as victims, but only to a point, because their motivations for joining vary. My parents became JWs, IMO, because of their poor and traumatic upbringings during the Depression and WWII. I think the JWs offered them a place of "refuge and safety" from the chaotic outside world. Others may join for the ready-made "brotherly and sisterly love" they think exists there.
But no matter the motivation, adult JWs had the responsibility to think their decision through before joining, and that they did not do so takes away from their victim status. They should have known better, for themselves and especially for their children. -

A "Good Call"
by slimboyfat inremember when we used to go on the ministry, whenever we found someone who would actually listen we would say "i had a good call.
" did you ever have a good call?

My best calls were when nobody was home. I would knock as many as 4 to 5 times to make the most of my peaceful good call.

How do you stop hating?
by ThomasCovenant ini'm finding it very difficult not to hate those still in.. my wife says i hate the religion but shouldn't hate the individuals.. i think she's correct but it's getting more and more difficult not to show my feelings of anger and hatred.. the thing is i was one of them for 30 years so i should have more patience, respect and sympathy.. i think they fall into two camps.
1 deluded.
2 self deluded.

If you haven't been out of the WT for very long, you just need more time between you and the JWs you know. Building a life away from the WT will soon occupy your thoughts more than the wrongs you've experienced at their hands, and the hate and bitterness will begin to fade (although it may never completely go away).
Thirty years later, I can still get pretty steamed up at the WT, but not with the gut-wrenching bitterness I used to feel. -

Time is their enemy
by LDH intick, tick, tick.. the governing body is dying one by one, faster now.. young people who thought they would never see themselves getting old now take meds for cholesterol, alzheimers, diabetes, blood pressure.. the end isn't here.. tick, tick, tick.. kids who walked away from the wt after being warned that they would die like a dog in the streets instead are very successful young people with real jobs, families, and assets.. empty threats stop having an effect.
apathy sets in.
automatons attend the meetings.

***Who is the one "having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time."?***
Back in my JW days, in the 1970s, we were told that it was Satan getting cast down to earth after that great heavenly battle in 1914 (1918?), and that's why he is causing so much trouble before the end. Don't know if that teaching has changed. -

For all newbies, including myself, take some time to check out AlanF and Farkel's topics over the past few years. It'll give you a sense of what this site's all about, and their posts are accurate, interesting, and sometimes very funny. Well worth checking out. There are other great posters, too, including "our" Blondie.
