I liked the movie, too, although it was a bit saccharine for my taste.
With all the demands on everyone's time these days, it's always a wonder to me that anyone takes some of their precious time to help people they may not even know. I also try but don't always succeed. My pay-forward efforts are usually directed toward animals. I've saved and found homes for, to date, several parakeets that had flown away, 2 stray dogs, 2 stray cats, and an abandoned lop-eared rabbit.

Is becoming a witness the right thing for me
by marketman ini've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the jehovah witness faith.
i am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the church.
i started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the church--which i began to seriously doubt.

</br>BTW, if you become a JW, one of the first of many, many rules you will be expected to obey is to avoid internet sites like this one. If they find out you have visited this site, they'll sail you off their back porch faster than a dead Easter chick. I'm so not kidding.

You're not fond of Catholicism, but at least the church allows you to question their beliefs without penalty. The WTS does not allow ANY questioning of its beliefs from its followers. If you become a JW and start having doubts and questions, see the Easter chick remark above. -

***Understanding Jehovah and of Jesus seemed to be pretty satisfying to me. When I was studying, it made you feel happy to be digging into God's word and learning about it. Why did I feel that way if all of this is so wrong?***
It is satisfying and happy ... at first. That's why many here on this forum became JWs. It's intensly satisfying to believe that at last, after wondering and questioning for years, here finally are all the answers you've been searching for.
But that certainty will come at a very high price. Already you can see some of its effects -- it's causing a rift between you and your wife. This will only get worse if you become a JW.
If you're the kind of person who enjoys being told what to do regarding what you believe, what you wear, what you read, how you spend your time, who you can talk to, then maybe JWs are for you.
But if you have even a shred of intellectual honesty, you will take some time before committing to the JWs and spend that time doing a lot of reading about them and a lot of thinking about them. You will find, as we did, that their "truth" is a constantly shifting sand bar. Study their history and see for yourself.
If you commit to the JWs simply because it "feels good," then you will have abandoned your responsibility as a thinking human being and handed it over to the WTS. It will make them "feel REAL good" to have another unpaid book salesman in their ranks. And that is ALL you are to them. -

What if we wrote letters to the Society.....
by Lady Liberty ingoodmorning all and "happy saturday"!!.
i recently had a very upsetting conversation regarding my stand with my active aunt.
for 4 hours i tried to reason with her on many issues.

I think it would be a waste of time and paper. The WTS would toss such letters after reading the first few lines. The only positive thing it might accomplish would be to increase the Society's waste removal costs.
It's a good idea in principle, but in practice it would accomplish nothing, IMO. -

I am New and I Am Being Discriminated At Work For NOT BEING A Catholic
by Zelaira inand also catholics and lutherans who hate on jws are harrasssing because they are blindsided and i am sick of it .... why do witnesses have such hate poured on them by catholics and lutheran groups?
also, how do you deal with not celebrating holidays?
is it wrong to wear crosses or can it be a gothic thing that a witness can possibly understand?

***Why do Witnesses have such Hate Poured on them by Catholics and Lutheran Groups?***
When I was a JW, I don't remember hate being "poured" on me by any other religion.
Most other religions are far more tolerant of JWs than JWs are of them. JWs don't rant against religion like they used to (remember "Religion is a snare and a racket"?), but they still promote their belief that they alone will survive Armageddon while the other 99% of the world's population will be annilhilated. That might make a few Catholics and Lutherans a bit testy, don't you think? -

cemetaries
by moomanchu inkingdom halls don't have cemetaries like other churches do .
is this another mind game to make the believers think they will never die?
are the witnesses to cheap to have a cemetary, grass cutting maintenance and such?.

***Why don't they exist?***
WTS doesn't get any profit from them. -

Every Meeting is fresh in my mind.....
by zeroday init's been two years since my da and yet with over a 28 year period of meetings i can still see every meeting in my mind.
everyone sitting in their same seats, the same ones throwing up their hands to answer, the same elders standing in the same place after the meetings to talk to the same people.
it begins to seem sureal.

I've owned birds all my life. If a cat or dog bites a bird and breaks the skin even a little, the bird is almost certainly done for. Cat and dog saliva have bacteria that set up massive infections in birds, which usually kill them in a day or less. Sorry for the bad news. I love both birds and cats (although I don't own a cat), so I stay neutral in the whole cat/bird struggle. Both are acting according to their natures.
