Dear baptized fellow witnesses of Jehovah,
As the Memorial approaches consider that you are living today -- and have the hope of everlasting life tomorrow -- because the blood flowing through your veins is the result of the greatest blood transfusion in human history.
Jesus Christ set the precedent for blood transfusions when he transfused his own blood into everyone who has ever lived.
Supporting documentation:
John 6:47-58
On a rather relevant note I have heard an increasing number of Jehovah's Witnesses are partaking of the "emblems" that represent Christ's blood and flesh at their homes on the day of the Memorial.
Perhaps one of these days "new light" will help the publishing company for Jehovah's Witnesses to recognize the importance of encouraging everyone to partake of these holy "emblems" in giving thanks for the life than Jesus infused into them.
Regards,
your baptized brother

LAS VEGAS-----INTENDED TO BE ATTACKED !!!
by minimus inaccording to the drudge report, the washington post's lead article will be that the reason why the air france flights were cancelled last night from france to l.a. was because terrorists were planning on using aircraft again to attack another major city---this time, las vegas.

I'm about to get some sleep because I leave later today for Las Vegas. I decided not to allow the terrorists to ruin my holidays and visits with the friends.
I have played the Star Wars game where you maneuver through Canyons, and it's quite unreal to imagine Hoover Dam as a dead-end to whatever ill-fated flight is detoured into this "Beggars Canyon" by terrorists. I plan on visiting Hoover Dam next week. I'm trying to imagine your scenario from the vantage point of the visitors center perched high over the dam; hearing a faint roar of unknown origin echoing through the canyon facing the dam; then witnessing the surreal scene of a low-flying airliner turning around the distant bend and racing right toward the dam.
However, I do believe the dam would be destroyed. You see, the jet fuel would melt through the dam, weakening the structure and causing a cascading collapse. By the time the water had penetrated through the dam to stop the melting, it's too late. The dam is spewing billions of gallons of water through the middle as the opening progressively widens until full failure is realized.
However, an alternative scenario could occur during cold high winds hitting the dam as the jet hits it. The jet fuselage is like aluminum foil compared to the dam's megastructure, so it would crumble and disintegrate instantly into a massive fireball. High winds would prevent the fireball from lingering long enough to melt the dam, although the blast wave would weaken the structure. This weakening would force engineers to drain Hoover Dam and spend billions reinforcing its structure. However, in this alternate scenario a collapse would not occur.
I'll report "live" from my laptop in my hotel suite at ground-zero of the strip during the new year's celebration if I can. I'm determined to remain optimistic that nothing will happen and half a million people jampacked onto the strip will return to their warm beds safely after the fireworks show.
Remember, Minimus and all, that without this eternal optimism to focus our attention to the eternal light above, there is only the gaping maw of an abyss of infinite darkness to stare into below. We must move our lives away from that darkness and move into the light because it is the light that terrorists fear the most.
Best wishes,
Derrick

Hi Minimus,
I'll be staying at a major hotel on the main Las Vegas stip at ground-zero of the fireworks show. I was real exciting about the trip with no reservations until now. (I was up late packing and decided what the heck, after so long, why not take a peek at this site before my departure?)
As I was reading the article (and thanks for sharing it) I pictured a few giant birds (jumbo jets) crash landing on the strip into the crowds reading to count-down the new year numbering over half a million. Immediately following that unpleasant thought I pictured an alternate scenario of the biowarning sirens recently installed, over half a million people running in panic and falling to the ground as they're overcome by airborne toxins.
Although your sharing this article triggered these dark thoughts, you might have saved my life because I have no intention of going onto the strip on new year's eve. I'll stay in my suite as I will have a view of the strip.
I'm serious in asking to please pray for my safety and for my thinking only good thoughts in spite of all the tension I might experience on my flight and possibly during my stay. I'm determined to have a relaxing time with the friends whom I'll be visiting!
Best wishes,
Derrick

More evidence for the Flood

You might want to consider an interesting article titled Prehistoric Beaches Evidence for the Flood (December 27, 1999) on the web site AchieveBalance.com in considering the global flood in Noah's day.
The article is at the following link:
http://www.achievebalance.com/think/flood.htm
A snippet from the article shows how science is getting closer to the truth:
- ``Geological studies of the Black Sea basin off the coast of Turkey led two Columbia University geologists, William Ryan and Walter Pitman, to theorize that they may have discovered the geological event that spawned the flood narrative in the book of Genesis.
According to the theory, 7,500 years ago, the Black Sea was a freshwater lake. Then, at the end of the last Ice Age, water levels in the Mediterranean rose. Eventually, the water poured over the Bosporus Strait at a volume 200 times that of Niagara Falls, inundating an area the size of the state of Florida. This flood created the Black Sea as we know it today, and Pitman and Ryan believe it is the historical basis for the biblical flood narrative.
The National Geographic Society wanted to find out if the geologists were correct. They approached Robert Ballard, the oceanographer who was the first man to explore the wreck of the ?Titanic,? about leading the expedition.
Ballard was initially skeptical. He compared the project to, in his words, "searching for arks on mountaintops" - the domain of religious fanatics, not scientists.
Ballard eventually agreed to lead the expedition. When sonar detected the beach at the bottom of the Black Sea, Ballard knew they were on the right track. Then, just weeks ago, came the most exciting discovery to date: the remains of freshwater mollusks on that beach - proof that Pitman and Ryan were right about a prehistoric flood.''
This thought provoking article ends by observing "the only thing that stands between an archaeologist and the truth is an open mind." Do you possess an open mind?

Due to my busy schedule I was going to wait until things settled down a bit before tackling a debate with Alan and others in this topic. However, I was drawn to "sneaking a peek" at this topic because I had a very unusual dream last night.
I guess the dream last night was triggered from this topic -- because it seemed illustrative of the whole mindset I feel up against in defending my faith in God and his written word. Although I'm surprised the dream would therefore include Alan when it included somebody entirely unexpected that everyone reading this topic will recognize!!
Because I type fast and think others who believe in JW reformation might totally relate to it, I'll hammer it out, and try to keep it short and sweet. Then I'll address whatever points raised since my last point when I can.
- Keep in mind, this dream occurred just a few hours ago! Also, I'm very serious and promise that I'm not just making this up as a metaphor. It was a very vivid dream that I can only figure was triggered by my reading the replies in this topic, perhaps triggering a flood of memories from the H2O days? I honestly don't know, maybe someone who understands psychology can take a stab at why I would suddenly have this dream.
The dream starts where I'm walking in an expansive stone paved old English schoolyard that reminds me of a boarding school. It is surrounded by fencing and English countryside. I don't know why England and this old turn of the century boarding school is the setting.
Next to me is a group of people from this forum, including Alan, Simon and Jan. We are having this heated argument and I feel this sense of being outnumbered, but I cannot remember specifically what we are discussing. I am vaguely aware we are being watched by these cameras mounted high above the schoolyard on the roofs that are recording everything occurring below.
Everyone gets tired of arguing with me, and shaking their heads, they disperse one by one. The only one left walking next to me is Jan.
It is now Jan and myself walking alone in this schoolyard. Jan starts to run ahead and insists I follow. He's laughing and very relaxed, like maybe he wants to start jogging. I then call out to Jan, who is now a distance away, and say, "want to see something really cool that I can do?"
I then run toward him and start to levitate into the air, rising higher and higher until I'm looking down at him. He just stands there, looking up and me. I finally go back down to the ground, and he loudly says something like, "Alan, Simon, anyone?" but nobody is around. Jan appears very distressed. I follow him as he makes a beeline into the building, down long corridors and into an office with lots of television screens and equipment. As he is fiddling with a device that reminds me of my Tivo hard-drive television recorder, into the room walks Alan, Simon and few others that seem familiar but I can't remember their names for the life of me at this moment.
"Did you see that??" Jan asks them.
To which they give him and puzzled look and Alan asks, "see what? What are you talking about?"
Jan rolls his eyes and says, "I'll show you!" I can see on the television screen Jan and myself moving in reverse very quickly as he is rewinding. We are going backwards down the long hallway, exit the building backwards into the schoolyard, and then walk backwards to the point directly after my landing on my feet on the ground after this little "stunt." Then the recording ends abruptly, as if it wasn't recording anything before that moment after I did what Jan now wanted to prove to the others.
Jan yells some expletives followed by "I don't believe this! Show them what you just did, they're never going to believe me."
"Show us what? Believe what?" questions Alan with a strange look on his face, like he's disturbed at Jan's sudden anxiety and angry excitement as he keeps working the controls on the recording device as if he is trying to get it to rewind further. For some reason I find this funny, and start laughing, which annoys Jan all the more.
"Jan thinks I can fly," I say to the others, laughing.
"Are you serious?" says Simon. Alan starts snickering. Jan has this shocked expression on his face. The apparent realization that I'm going to refuse to repeat this stunt really pisses Jan off. There's this priceless expression with a mixture of every human emotion -- fear, anger, outrage, betrayal, shock, a kaleidoscope.
As the dream abruptly ends, I'm standing there thinking that he seems more concerned with what others think than just to witness some bizaar event. The dream abruptly ends.
Right at this moment I'm thinking that deep down, I must believe that my subconscious is expressing something about my reaction to Alan's and Jan's refusal to believe in anything beyond the ordinary, let alone in God's ability to create "impossible" events.
In recent years I rarely experience such vivid dreams. And no, I didn't have chile the previous night! ;)
So what does anyone think? Be kind! I know on the surface this dream might seem silly! Believe me, this is the last kind of dream I would expect to have!
Incidently, the setting and country where the dream takes place was odd, and for the life of me, I don't know why Simon appeared in the dream with the group. ;)

Hello Osarsif, good catch. Sometimes I wonder if trying to reform the organization isn't going to be problematic of a task as if someone attempted to redesign the famous Winchester Mystery House in northern California (i.e., to remove all the blind staircases that end at the ceiling below the next floor, or trying to seal all those trap doors and exits on the upper levels...)? Yes, with all the conflicting dates in and outside the organization it's a wonder we managed to keep our sanity for all those years. ;)

I appreciate everyone's sincere and heartfelt replies. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, and I respect that.
At the present time I'm unable to spend a lot of time in replying, and hopefully I will be able to spend some time going over each of your excellent points.
Therefore, I will cut to the chase and state a few facts which you can dispute, but I honestly believe these facts cannot be successfully disputed by anyone:
- All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial to all. The Holy Bible was written by men who freely gave themselves to the task of its writing because God inspired them.
- The global flood was not a local event. Water covered all landmasses worldwide, drowning all except Noah, his family and the life they brought aboard the seaworthy vessel. God inspired Noah and his family to build this vessel and they carried this project our as an act of faith. (Yes, I agree that Christians need faith in the things unseen until revealed as reality.) If anyone has seen the movie "Waterworld" (well worth renting IMO) the flood in the days of Noah was that catastrophic and worldwide of an event.
- At some unknown point in time God's glorious kingdom will reign supreme over the entire universe and through spacetime, and those who insist on following Satan and his demon angels will be destroyed.
This is the "naked truth" and like in the days before the flood many people poke fun at these facts. Some people I know extend their refusal to believe in that which they cannot feel, touch and sense, not only by claiming God and the Bible are fiction. I have even heard people poke fun at physicists by arguing that other dimensions beyond our own cannot possibly exist because if they did, you could see them. You can't see God, so he doesn't exist... similar "logic" was used in more primitive times.

You've got a good point. Proving the historic accuracy of the Bible is nevertheless important. The Bible is not necessarily inspired because of its proven historic accuracy. I will agree to this point. However, set aside any skepticism you may have for a moment to consider a very important point: If the Bible was proven as NOT historically accurate then skeptics could dismiss its Author. Any further attempts to prove its divine inspiration would be easy to invalidate. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of removing the barriers of historic accuracy in order to clear the overgrowth blocking the path to the one universal truth.

Part of the Old Testament Proven True
Read 2 Kings 20:20 and 2 Chronicles 32:30 in the Old Testament and you'll find a reference to a tunnel that was built in 700 B.C. by order of King Hezekiah to protect Jerusalem's water supply against an Assyrian siege. Long considered an engineering feat for that day and age, the serpentine tunnel ran 1,750 feet long and moved water from the Gihon spring across the entire city of ancient Jerusalem to the pool of Siloam. Fast forward to modern-day Jerusalem. The Siloam Tunnel in that city matches the biblical description of King Hezekiah's tunnel. But is it really the same one? That question has stumped scholars for years, many of whom insisted the Siloam Tunnel was built centuries later than the Bible suggested in Kings and Chronicles. The only clue that survived for more than 2,700 years is an inscription discovered in 1880 on a tunnel wall that supported the link to King Hezekiah, although it did not name him specifically, reports The Associated Press. Now geologists from the Cave Research Center at Hebrew University in Jerusalem think they have solved the mystery. By using radiocarbon testing to analyze the age of stalactite samples from the ceiling of the Siloam Tunnel and plant material recovered from its plaster floor, the biblical record and the tunnel's age have been confirmed, the researchers wrote in the journal Nature. The Siloam Tunnel is the one built by King Hezekiah. This is also significant because it is the first time that a well-identified biblical structure has been subjected to extensive radiocarbon dating. Even with all our modern-day technology and scientific knowledge, very little testing of biblical structures has been done to prove or disprove their age or authenticity. Why? The experts told AP such testing is difficult because it's often hard to identify such structures, they may be poorly preserved, or they may be restricted for various political or religious reasons. The Siloam Tunnel is different. It's long been a tourist attraction. Anyone can wander in it and see the pick marks the original builders made in the walls to adjust their course so the tunnel would meet with a second team of workers who were heading toward them from the opposite end of the city. AP notes that those pick marks tell us how difficult it was to connect the two ends of the tunnel. "The tunnel is extraordinary, but these guys didn't know where they were going a lot of the time," Hershel Shanks, an expert on the history of Jerusalem who writes for the Biblical Archaeology Review, told AP. Still, he added, "It's nice to have scientific confirmation for what the vast majority of biblical scholars and archaeologists believe."
