"Soon" means: "Right around the corner".
Warlock
the watchtower magazine has used the word "soon" on many an occasion to point out to its readership how near armageddon really is.. a word that can mean anything, in effect, actually means nothing.
consequently, let's examine what "soon" actually means by definition and use.. there can only be three stages of time:.
wouldn't you agree with that?
"Soon" means: "Right around the corner".

i had a friend call me the other day(monday).
he asked me if jws feel they are ministers.
then he told me to go to john 12:26,(nwths)..it reads....," if anyone minister to me, let him follow me, and where i am there will be my ministery also.
So then, if I understand your point correctly, if you want to minister with/to Jesus now, you would have to die or commit suicide?

1. apostates are divided among themselves and have nothing better to offer.
2. most left because they can't reach the high moral standards of jehovah's witnesses.. .
3. all apostates can do is tear down the truth and offer nothing substantial in its place.
Slim:
At least you can post your "grievences" here, and not get df'ed. If you took the responses to your points to the elders, you would get df'ed.

okay, so it's burn in hell day.
although this is not really linked to this day specifically, i made an mp3 cd of music to play when we've got the fire pit going in the back yard.
however, it's quite fitting for listening to today.
What about "Hells Bells" and the road that I'm on, "Highway to Hell" both by AC/DC.

i stopped going out in service about a year ago.
just couldn't take it anymore.
after that, i still continued "studying" with my kids and "counting the time" for that.
Un:
I worked my way down from 12-15 hours a month to 1-2 hours a month and then just quit going out in service. My wife is inactive, like me , but she still believes in the Org., so we still go to maybe 1 meeting a month.
Looks like you are kind of in a tough situation. If your elder body is the type that really don't care, that would make it a lot easier. If they are the type that really care, it will be more difficult to fade or leave.

when someone asks about the jws, i usually find myself talking about disfellowshipping, the blood issue, the child-molestation problem.
but looking back i think, although those are the easily explained and perhaps somewhat sensational bad things about being a jw, they're not the only things that have left their marks.
in fact, only the disfellowshipping issue has personally affected me (although i'm not officially df'd, but of course you don't have to be to lose your friends/family).
Cady: Your post really got to my heart and I feel for you. If I could take your pain away, I would, as would anyone on this board. The problem is, in the Hall, you have to watch what you do and say. When you leave the Hall, you have to watch what you do and say. Life in the Org. creates a life with constant inner conflict and is not natural. The only thing I can say is keep coming back when you need it. We understand.
Blues Bro.: You are so right about private opinions.
Luna2: What were you thinking? The same thing most of us were. Paradise................any day now.
Cabin: I also feel like a spectator......observing the WTS and "the world", because I'm stuck in-between both.
Terry: I don't know if I can start over, as long as I have relatives in the Org. It would be a lot easier if I didn't, but that is the situation.
Thanks All, Warlock
the alternative light i have received regarding early christianity has made me wonder whether jws have unwittingly got it right regarding the status of jesus.
a lot of strong criticism is made on this forum about jws sidelining of jesus in preference for jehovah the jewish god.
they have been equated with judaism because of their lack of inclusion of christ in their worship as well as their draconian code of expected conduct.
Fair,
I occasionally listen to a radio program whose host is a born again Christian. He refers to God and Jesus as "being of the same substance" in trying to prove the trinity.
I know the WTS teaches that the ones who have immortality are Jah, Jesus and the 144,000. Everyone else will get everlasting life, but it is not permanent and could be taken away. At least that's my understanding.

seems to me that only junk is displayed, most of the times..
Come on 'lil, you just didn't know how to work the "system". I knew a pioneer that would continue his time just about all day by making sure he would "witness" at the coffee shop before he got to the meeting for service at the hall. After door to door, to keep his time going, he would witness to someone while he was pumping his gas. I actually saw him in a store, carrying magazines out in the open, so he could continue his time. Of course, stupid Warlock would report his real time in the ministry, which is why he was only getting a few hours a month and not 120 a month.

Delilah,
I was kidding about the possessed junk, HOWEVER, my brother-in-law and his wife did pick up something with a "personality" at a garage sale, and it wasn't a very pleasant "personality", either.

Junk that is probably possessed, I might add.
