Do you love/care for people here?

i care about all of you.

i love some of you and have told you that, some i love and haven't told (yet).

for some of us, those here truly are family and friends.

I agree with Juni-only former witnesses could possibly understand what we have gone through. Other people would think we are crazy. They could never imagine what disfellowshipping can do to a family, or what hurtful words from the elders can do to your self-esteem. They could never imagine having at one time believed that when the "higher ups" said 1975 would be a "special year" so much that some sold everything they had and quit their jobs, or that there would be such devastation upon finding out about the United Nations scandal.

I have only been on this forum for a short time, but I too have heard some heart-wrenching things and understood the pain.

I read an article by Marlo Thomas, daughter of late actor Danny Thomas. It was You Can be Better or You Can be Bitter. I am heartened when some announce that they are going to return to college to contribute to society and that they still want to treat others the way they would like to be treated. May we all become better, and encourage our friends on this forum to do so.

Finally going to college...

even though "the end" is so close you could reach out and "touch it with your tonge" i'm going to get my degree.

i have been inactive for more than ten years, but because of the wife i still go to church (i just can't call it "the hall" anymore, at least in my heart) on sundays from time to time.

and guess what, when i mentioned that i was going to go to college, i was asked why i would want to do that?

Congratulations. Study hard and be proud of yourself. The ones at the K.H. will never tell you they are proud of you, but you are on your way to accomplishing alot and in your chosen field you will be beneficial for many people I'm sure.

Elder admits to porn problem

i posted a week or two ago that i would stop attending meetings and being an elder.

i decided to wait on this after we received the june 7th boe letter.

i was interested in getting more information from other friends & family at bethel.

If a man is to be a spiritual shepherd he must not be having lap dancing done on him in public places then going to these people's doors. However, since he does have the problem, think of the guts it must have taken for this man to go to the BOE and confess. I am sure he was looking for compassion and fellow feeling, but it sounds like they have already made a decision amongst themselves.

Shouldn't they have immediately shown their love for him, and HELPED HIM to overcome this problem and get his marriage back on track?

We've been given our orders!

ah the joys of having a hubby that is in complete subjection to his witness sister!!!!.

i love living my life according to the book of lori!

she and frank are supposed to find a new care home for their father so today they made arrangements to go together and look for one.

Really- let me tell you how to get back at your sister in law. When there is any future problem with grandpa and you are called upon to help, just reply-"Oh, let Lori handle it- she's much better at it than I am." Repeat this phrase as often as necessary, until you do not have this job anymore and she and your husband have to take care of everything no matter the time-day or night. Then, you take care of your work and clients. Let Lori fume and burn, and you just smile sweetly in return.

Since it sounds like you do work, you must be a capable person. You must make some money. By all means, save some, and get with a family member or friend and take a vacation. After telling Frank your plans, just tell him you knew he wouldn't want to go, then fill him in when you return on the fun details. Do not depend on this man for happiness. It seems he wants you to have very little.

here is a few pics of our home...they are not very good though ...lol...i don't have any pictures up yet, most of my plants are setting on my table (still), some stuff is still out in the moving van and our grass is not in and garage is not built (the cut lumber in our yard is going to be milled and used for our deck and garage)!

we always seem to get focused on the bad - and there is plenty of it for sure - and anyone who follows my posts knows i am no wt apologist by any stretch.

but focusing on the postive is a good thing in the 'moving on' process i think too.

what do you think jw's had right?.

My Friend is dying

two weeks ago a very dear friend of 20 years had a heart attack.

he went to the hospital and they inserted three stents.

we all thought he was going to do well afterwards.

From your post it is obvious how much you cared for him. How wonderful that he had you as a friend. He was fortunate.

I cannot beleive i am an " apostate"

my hell is just beginning, 26 years of marriage, almost divorced last year until we finally decided to get back and give it another try this year.

now i'll have to meet with the elders and tell them about my spirituality and doubts about the wts, 1914, 1995 generation change,malawy/mexico,and on and on and my wife will be there.

i do feel sorry for my wife because she has already lost 13 members of her family, "apostasy" and some just left the truth and even though some are not disfellowshipped she won't talk to them, now her husband, is going thru the same thing, she cannot accept it because out of 31 y. in the truth i was an elder and how could that happen.

I am also new here, and would never have dreamed that my husband and I would find ourselves in the same situation as you are. He was an elder for many years. How do you go back when you know what you know? What a feeling when you come to grips with the real situation!! He is so depressed to think that he spent so so so much time trying to do everything right, discouraging me from getting advanced education, he gave up a good paying job when we came in, and now we are in our fifties and are having real trouble making ends meet. Not to mention that we had barely any relationship with our "worldly" family.

My best advice to you is take your time to think things out. Take your wife on a vacation before you do anything. Find some common ground other that the Society. Really talk-about other things that matter. Don't give her too much info at once. It is so devastating to find out about the U.N.and all the other "secrets" that we are now privy to, but you probably had to think about things for awhile before it all sunk in, and so give your wife the same time. This will be hard for her-it's as if her security and future are now in doubt, and that is hard for a woman.

At any rate, welcome to the forum. Expressing myself here and finding out that there are others like me has really helped.

Also, just think!!! The Governing Body states that Holy Spirit directs the organization. Did Holy Spirit direct that hair would fall out if it was bobbed? How about the worms causing appendicitis? How about the many people who were taught that organ transplant was cannibalism? Then the GB saw "new light" but unfortunately it did not come soon enough for some. What was that expression-"Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it?"
