  Thanks for your story.

  It seems as though once her parents realized that you weren't going to become a convert to JWs, they dumped you, instead of feeling that you are part of the family. I am so sorry for that.

  On the upside, why don't you and your family go on a vacation all together to someplace fun for the whole family? You will be making memories with your children, and may be able to have good times with your wife that don't involve JW speak of any kind. If she gets away for awhile, and really has a chance to relax, it may help both of you.

  Little by little, maybe you can win her over with kindness!

  i am new to this board after lurking for awhile (thanks so much for creating this place simon, and for everyone's shared thoughts!).

  i am going crazy because i have recently allowed myself to begin thinking (and it is so fun!

  ) and i am an outspoken person, and it is very hard for me to keep my opinions and discoveries about this place under my hat!

  When the circumstances are right, perhaps you could ask someone to "clarify" something you don't understand...say...generation....as in "But I don't understand....wasn't it the generation that was alive in 1914? And then it was changed to the wicked people? Then, the annointed? Then, the annointed in 1914 and who?"

  Sounds like the author is enjoying a happy life now, after a life of suffering and turmoil. Good for her!

  Isn't it sad that many JWs feel so unloved by God? I remember the guilt I always felt. I could never do enough. If I did something, someone else did it without legs, etc....

  my husband, daughter and myself walked away from jws 20 years ago so we have lost touch with latest teachings.

  my husbands family are still jws.

  one of my daughter's cousin aged 26years and just married is phoning our daughter up trying to get her back inot the wt society.

  So glad your daughter went to University. There was a thread not too long ago on this forum featuring an unbeleivable video of a Governing Body member talking about higher education and downing it--if I remember correctly he equated it with shooting yourself in the head....maybe someone will remember more than I do about it.....

  Please read up all you can here about the changes, new light, etc.

  Don't jump on your daughter...tell her you are glad she's investigation as an educated person....but do it soon....please don't let them take her...I know it sounds far-fetched but some on this forum are shunned by their witness children. That would be awful!

  I would imagine that the actors are tired of running around in dirty clothes looking tired and stressed all the time! Then again, I've seen costume changes and wondered where they got the clothes.

  Goodbye! .....Sort of

  i've been on here nearly a year and i believe it is time to move on.. i think i know what i want out of life.

  i have been spending less time on here and am now back in full time employment (not on a consultancy basis - but properly employed!)..

  i need to think about building a career and consider the future, build a retirement fund, reduce my debts and pay off my mortgage.

  Moving On after being a JW

  after leaving this religion has there been anything that you have done that is completely separate, or negative from their belief/control system.

  yet from a worldy viewpoint you make a difference,,, a positive stamp in some aspect of everyday life ?.

  for an example to get things started, one thing that i have done is trained my dog to help people in the hospital.

  How wonderful that you and your dog visit people in the hospital. When my mother was in an assisted living facility a lady would come and bring her dog, and my mother just loved it. May you and your dog be blessed for helping the sick.

  I don't know that I will ever turn the years of being a JW into a positive aspect of my life. I rather feel like I lost over thirty years and regret it very much.

  I have determined, however, that they will not get one more minute of my life. If I see a JW, I have determined to give them a loud hello, smile, and keep walking. I saw a JW woman in a store a couple of months ago, and she asked me which KHall I go to now. I just said I don't go anymore. She said, "You don't?" I said I didn't, smiled, and said, "Nice to see you." Then I left.

  Alone?

  i just wanted to introduce myself.

  my name is chris and i'm on my way out of the only "society" i've known.. i was raised a witness and have been a ministerial servant for a while now.

  i recently notified the elder body that i will be stepping down and it will soon be official.

  Welcome.

  The good thing is, you are just 28. I was "in" over thirty years. I am 58 now. How I wish I had those years back.

  You have so many options. Make some goals. Someone mentioned college. To really know things instead of just being fed magazine issues is incredibly freeing. Just keep it quiet if you go.

  Only you can know what your family can handle. Maybe over time you can ask a few "questions" without being looked at as Satan. Maybe plant a seed of doubt here or there.Don't make hasty decisions you regret later.

  Yes, it is wonderful that your wife is with you. Maybe you can get some hobbies together that you like. Travel instead of going out in service every Saturday. Maybe volunteer for a worthy organization. Maybe go to college together!

  Let us know more of your plans as time goes by.
