my 10 year old grandson is in the hospital with really high blood pressure.
he has a urinary tract blockage which is affecting his kidney function,which resulted in the high blood pressure.
his dad, soonernc7 and his mom are with him now.
Yes, a sad way to miss the last week of school, but better now than in the middle, missing important tests, etc.(I guess you can tell I work in a school)
He'll have this summer to rest and get back to A-1 condition.
In the meantime, get him lots of interesting books with lots of cool pictures.
sad to hear that art linkletter passed away.
i remember his shows, they were very entertaining.
i especially enjoyed the "kids say the darndest things.".
I am sorry to hear about it.
I remember the show very well. One little boy was asked, "What does your father do for work?" The boy replied, "He makes light bulbs and toilet paper." Art Linkletter asked, "How do you know?" The boy replied, "'Cause that's what he brings home in his lunch box."

it's good to know that i'm not alone in my ex-jw status and that my story and experiences are not unique.
i have no bitterness or anger anymore.... that's long gone since i left some 12 years ago.

Take some time to look into the background of the WTS and ask the hard questions.
i was disfellowshipped when i was 16 for playing sports, girlfriend, high school parties, etc.
basically the normal stuff 16 yr olds do.
i was booted out of the house and bounced around to various family (all non-jw) until i went to college.
Isn't it amazing that JWs do things that are bad frequently, and show themselves to be no better than anyone else, but if someone has the title disfellowshipped, the others are so superior!

wanted to let everyone know that i've finally graduated college with a bachelors degree!
ended up earning magna cum laude.. it's difficult to describe the sense of accomplishment.
i still kick myself for listening to the wts when i was a kid and forsaking "higher education".
You have every reason to be proud...you've accomplished something very worthwhile.

my very militant jw niece is marrying a jw boy who i know little about, though i presume he must have priveleges or be a pioneer for her to have dated him in the first place.
though i feel so sad at the reality she's about to face - marrying a man she barely knows who she's probably never spent time alone with - i would still like to celebrate her love, or at least these exciting new feelings that she's experiencing that she believes to be love.
(and for all i know may certainly be love).. .

i am a third generation of jehovah witnesses, even if i never got baptized.
however, they disfellowship me when i was around 15. this was around 1987. even if i have not been in the "truth" for so many years it has affected all my life in many ways not only negative.
a couple of years ago i thought the events in the world maybe proved to me that they were right after all.

These people "threw you away" when you were 15, making you feel that you did not matter to God. But the Bible says that he loves mankind so much he sent his son to die for us.
How they feel they can do this to young people is beyond me. And then they wonder why people don't come back!

last night my wife said that she feels bad about being affiliated with the witnesses at all.
i too feel bad about it.... i don't want to be responsible for misleading people.. i told her that in order to keep communication between myself and my family open, i can justify going to meetings.

Yes, but what else can you do right now? No one can guilt like JWs can guilt! They have mastered the art over years of crafting!! They may use the "C'mon, you can tell me anything" line, but you know better.
At least now you can take time to distance yourself slowly. Eventually, they will lose interest in you. Then, you can decide what to tell your family, if anything at all.
hello..i have been lurking for quite some time and am finally ready to make my first post!.
i was raised a witness and am still "active" in the congregation and am married to husband who is also and have been having some doubts for some time and voiced some of them to my husband a few months back and he immediatly called the elders who provided a sheparding call.
doubts were mainly on the harshness of the disfellowshipping and the blood issue.

Perhaps sometime you could "ask a question" to your husband. Something to make him think, but in a way that does not sound "apostate." Something like, "I don't understand about the generation changes. There have been so many in recent years. Can you help me understand how once the WT taught that the generation of 1914 definitely would not pass awaybefore Armageddon, then the generation was the wicked people who took no note, then the annointed, then overlapping generations?"
Sometimes when others are called on to explain, they see the confusion of it all.
