  OK 25 years out!!!

  i'm not the longest out.

  mouthy was out before i was and a handfull of others.. but this year marked 25 out for me as opposed to 22 years in.

  this life is what you choose to make it.

  Congratulations Lady Lee. Yes, life is what you make it.

  I made mine "in" for over thirty years. Now that I am out, I am trying to make up for lost time. I have to hurry because I am almost 59 years old. I am determined....DETERMINED to get a college degree. Even though by the time I graduate, because I also have to work full time, I'll never be able to use it. I have the satisfaction of finally using my brain, instead of trying to make sense of the constantly changing doctrines of the WTS.

  I no longer have to try to make sense of why they changed PO to COBE....why is presiding different from chairman? What the hell was "loose" conduct anyway? Why is brazen any better? And of course, that real sweetheart, the "generation overlap" idiocy.

  My biggest wish now is to be a "thorn in the side" of the WTS...woo hoo!

  FlyingHighNow's Nephew's shunning - tragic ending

  flyinghighnow (heather) updated her thread last evening about her nephew's shunning treatment by his own mother.

  this story has now taken a tragic turn and because heather had updated the original thread, it has been buried and has not gotten the recognition it deserves.. the third page of the original thread is here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/196991/3/my-lovely-jw-sister-just-said-this-to-her-oldest-son last evenings post is about half way down.. .

  please provide heather some kindness and support that she needs at this time.. .

  Flying high now, as I wrote on your thread about your nephew, I am so sorry.

  After a bit of time has passed, and you feel a bit better, perhaps you could think about writing to the newspaper, enclosing a picture of the last words on the web page, and then sharing that words like these to a son can lead to a broken heart and tragic consequences of the shunning practices of JWs.

  having trouble getting my head around this...?

  last week i did some work for the army.

  while there i was impressed by how nice all the guys were.

  how respectfull, helpfull and decent they all were.

  My dad was also a Marine...veteran of WWII and Korea.

  He fought in the South Pacific. When I was young he used to have nightmares that he was having hand to hand combat in a foxhole. The Japanese were brutal as they swept through China and other places in their bid to take over lands. Remember that they bombed Peart Harbor and that is why the US fought them.

  Others of the Armed Forces liberated France and other countries from Hitler, who wanted to establish himself as dictator (sorry, Ceasar) over the "Holy Roman Empire." He was willing to stop at nothing. I am sure the six million Jews and others in the concentration camps did not view the American soldiers as murderers, rather as those willing to stand up for justice and stop this madman.

  Today there are other enemies who wish to enslave Americans to their ideologies or just kill us because we defend liberty.

  For over thirty years, I did not tell my dad that I was proud of his efforts to keep America the land of the free....now I wish I could but he died before I left the WTS.....

  hi i am new here

  i had started studying with jw because i was curious about the religion because my bf then(now husband) was a witness.

  i am a very open minded person and really had i known what i know now i prob would not have been baptized.

  i always had my doubts but i really enjoyed the positive aspects that i was learning at the meetings...i studied with my mom in law.i prob shouldn't have done that because she has taken it very personal that we have stopped and even had the nerve to say i started studying to get in good with the fam!!

  I am sure you weren't surprised by your mother-in-law's comments...but I am sure it hurts and isn't going to do anything for your future relationship!

  On the upside, glad you and hubbie are out together, and I'll bet your side of the family is happy to know you are no longer going ot meetings.

  New Little Miss Neal arrives...

  Congratulations.

  A wise friend told me before I had my child...don't rush your baby to be potty trained early, walk early, get off a bottle early, etc. Just enjoy every moment and don't stress...there are no healthy adults that aren't potty trained, are still crawling, etc. They will eventually get it. I heeded that advice, didn't compare my child to others, and was less stressed because of it.

  Marking 7 Years out of the Watchtower

  boy oh boy where to start?

  lots of changes over the last seven years.

  this week i had been reflecting on just how drastically my life has changed for the better since loosening the grip of the watchtower society.. in brief, my life seven years ago this month looked liked this; my family was very unhappy after nearly a decade of serving the "happy god" of the watchtower and being part of the "happiest people on earth".

  You know, it is interesting that you posted this.

  Today I was talking to a woman at work who is Bhuddist, but her brother has become a Seventh Day Adventist.

  She knows I was a JW and was asking me questions about the Bible. She knows next to nothing.

  I was explaining to her that althought I do not belong to any denomination, as they all have their own interpretations, I do consider myself a Christian, due to the wonderful teachings of Jesus, and the life he led, and the fact that he demonstrated such love to others.

  I am so glad that your prayers were answered and that your family has a measure of peace.

  BIG talk with teenage son today

  yesterday i got to ask my kids what they thought of the convention they just had.

  response was 'really good'.

  daughter liked the drama but could not say why or what the lesson was... so i figure she liked it because it was more interesting than the regular talks.

  This is the most important thing. He will feel confident that no matter what, you are like his safety net. Even if he should choose the org. right now, but later change his mind, he can inwardly know that you will be there to see him through.Every young person makes mistakes, but the lucky ones have parents that they can count on to love them and help them through life's bumps.

  Great job as a dad! (I believe the expression is-good on you?)

  You know, I don't think that really deeply down a person would admit to not caring if his wife was a prostitute. Can you just picture this scene?

  Child- "Dad, why does mom have to work late again?"

  Dad- "Now kids, don't go into the bedroom, mom has a customer, and you know she has to work nights so johns can come after work." I have to go out on the streets and rustle her up a little business, so get to your homework."

  Mom and dad on meet the teacher night:

  Teacher- "I see listed here on employment of parents that you are a business owner and your wife is a prostitute?"

  I guess some people just will argue any position that seems to get attention.

  What I would add as my comment to the original poster-I have lived close to 59 years, and have seen how skeletons from the past come out of the closet. Years later, your children or others whose opinion you value could find out about your "arrangements." You always have to live with your past. Better to use sound judgement beforehand. I hope you will.
