My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear that your son has died. Please take comfort in knowing that he knew he had a dad who loved him very deeply.

No, how could anyone get used to such a thing? So sorry this has happened to you.
Parents bring children into the world and are supposed to be there to cherish them, pick them up when they fall, and above all love them no matter what.
Perhaps you could send them a card that simply says, "Love never fails." The WTS expects them to turn it on and off at its bidding.

This Year's Memorial the Shortest Ever
by compound complex inthe memorial last thursday night was, to my recollection, the shortest i've ever attended.
thirty-five minutes.
it was truly a cliff notes version.

Didn't go....happily. Sorry you had to, CoCo.
I do remember when it really was the "most important night of the year." Everyone bought new clothes. We invited people to our house afterward, or went to someone else's home. Now, seems like everyone just wants to get it over with.
Over 11,000 partakers? Ha! Wasn't it supposed to be an identifying mark of true Christians that the number would decrease every year? It was around 8,000 ten years ago. And now they actually ADVERTISE the fact that it's going up?

Hi, everybody!
by thomyorke ini am from russia, and i've ben a jw for a 19 years of my life, since my early childhood.last 5-6 years that i spend my time in the organization, it was only because my family, close friends, and a girlfriend.i've been a pioneer for a 6 years, but my favorite kind of ministry was construction of kingdom halls!
(because there was a lot of humour, creative young people, young and pretty sisters, etc.
;)i still have very good memories about that period...nearly before i finally quit, i was disfellowshipped for a 1 year and 4 months.in that time i 've reed a "crisis of concience" and "in search for christian freedom", and give those book to my mom,she already was inactive, and having a serious doubts.but i was too naive!i decided to comeback into organization- cause of my girlfriend and friends.and remain there as a "double agent" or a spy))i had to pass through all the way to be reinstated...when i 'came back', i had a bad surprise: the elders decided that i need to study some publications again, for my "reabilitation".

Welcome to the forum to you and your mom!
I've seen pictures of St. Petersburg and saw the "Treasures of the Tzars" exhibits that came to the U.S. about 15 years ago...with jewels and carriages, etc. It was fabulous!

can of worms -ranting
by so confused inthe more i'm reading and thinking about what i have previously learned it just opens a whold new can of worms.. my husband and i have been reading/comparing the nwt, diaglot, reference bible, etc.
and i saw where the society added words, changed meaning, even added an entire sentence without ().
i have seen where they have emphasized sayings in the watchtower that are not in the bible like "paradise earth".

WELCOME TO THE FORUM AND TO A LIFE THAT IS YOUR OWN!!!
I was "in" for over thirty years. How I wish I could have that time back. I am sixty now, and will finish my college degree next December. (hopefully) I spent all those years doing "humble" cleaning jobs that left me exhausted and sick and couldn't begin to support me. Even though I won't be able to start a new and exciting career at sixty, I finally feel some sense of accomplishment and pride of real achievement.
I like the words quoted by someone on this forum: "Better to have questions you can't answer than answers you can't question."
Please be thankful that your husband is with you on this journey. It sounds like you have a wonderful family with him and your baby.

JW boyfriend, the sequel
by SEL inalmost a year ago i made a few posts here about how much effort i ought to put into getting a man i loved considerably out of the wt.
by that point i had already put in a lot of effort and accumulated a nice collection of books on the wt, on cults, on bible chronology.
then i finally gave up and decided to leave.. we kept in pretty regular touch until last fall, when i moved a neat twelve time zones away.

I Just Found Out That The Elders SAVED A Seat For ME For The Memorial
by minimus ina few weeks ago, i visited my mom and a couple of elders and a young ms also came by to see her.
while i was there, the elders invited me to the memorial and i was very polite with them and thanked them for their invitation.. i just spoke to my mother and she said the elders saved 2 seats for my mother and i !
they seemed confident that i would show up.. unbelievable!.

Isn't it against the rules to save seats? It is at the assemblies....

End of the Preaching Work?
by Slidin Fast inthere is a rumour (from someone who should know better) that members of the gb are going round saying that the preaching work is accomplished.
this comes from a seniour elder and i therefore take it a bit more seriously than some sources.. if this is true then it kinda links in with the reduction of the half awake and the watch slightly-higher-mound-look-out magazines.. has any one else heard anything?.
