I would imagine that your family loves you but is enslaved by the WTS and in their mind feel that they are doing the right thing by shunning you to "bring you to your senses."
They are taught that you are the one who abandoned them.
I am so sorry that you are in this situation. Maybe sometime if you feel up to it, you could send them a card, just to say "I love you." It will go deep into the heart to a place that hopefully the WTS cannot penetrate.

I also wanted to add....I have gone back and read some of your first posts-so sorry for your situation. However, you have a family that loves and needs you. That is more than many on this earth have. Please reflect on the good things that you have. I have been married for over forty years....both of my parents are gone, and many other relatives. I appreciate having a home and someone who loves me and that I love no matter what our differences may be.
You never know what the future holds. You at one time were a blind follower of the WT and longed for a family that was the same. Now, you want the opposite, so you must go slowly.....just keep showing the same love.
I know would be hard, but I would read the latest magazines all the time and keep comparing doctrinal changes over time. Maybe, just maybe, something you point out will catch your wife's attention. As I know you were cautioned before, never offer any comments on "apostate" material, just compare what the WTS says over the years, and question the differences.

You can't argue with a five year old. Just tell her you love her very much, and tuck her in. Maybe pick up a stuffed animal and hug it and talk to it for a few seconds. Her attention will be diverted.
You are a good dad. Just keep exercising the same patience.

I thought that the evil JW org had stolen enough of my life, and by obsessing over the past and my stolen childhood was just giving them more power over my life, and I vowed long ago that nothing a JW could say or do would have any affect over me ever again.

I don't know that the "vow" you took that nothing a JW could say or do would have any affect over you will work really well at all times. The very fact that we are all here on this forum shows that they did certainly have a great effect over us. We can't expect to be immune. We just cope better knowing that we now have seen the WTS for the man-made organization that it really is, and the aren't bound by their authority any more.
Yes, it is important not to give them any more of our lives, and so I hope that you have formulated goals for yourself and are pusuing them now. As one poster said, living a good life is the best revenge!
so i was da'd last september as a 'mentally diseased apostate'(tm) that the 'jehu elders'(tm) should 'slaughter'(tm) if the law of the land allows it.. i now get shunned in the street and i think it's so childish of the dubs to do so.
one family that shunned me was a family i bent over backwards to help them when they had to move house.
their loss...i won't help them again!.
Next time you could wave at them and yell, "Nice talking to you!-Hey-any new generation teachings after the overlap thing? How's that going?"

Keep up those excellent grades. Yes, when you go off to school, you will be your own person. Learn all you can,and study what you enjoy. Don't look back at these petty people who will now think up new rumors about you in your absence.
Life will be a wonderful adventure for you. You will meet all sorts of people at school, and it does sound like you are a good kid and able to think before you act. That will serve you well and keep you safe in the future.
I think you'll even find in the future that it won't even bother you if they wish not to speak with you.

I felt the same way.
I remember looking at others in the KHall when the "generation" was changed in 1995 to "the contemporaries at the time of the end" or something to that effect after years and years of telling people at the doors that the generation who saw 1914 wouldn't pass off the scene. I can only imagine hearing that it was "overlapping generations" when the changed it to that...I was out by then. Yes, I thought I was spiritually weak because I couldn't understand the gobbledy-gook back and forth stuff they tried to sell.

i found an article today that discusses the new batman movie.
growing up, i remember the batman and robin tv show from the 1960's, and i assumed that the dark knight movies would be along the same lines.

Well, I agree with you and was saddened to know that there were people who took very small children to see these types of very violent movies.
Children should not be exposed to this type of brutal sadism. They don't know how to distinguish real from fake, and how to asses what is right and wrong.
I can only imagine the nightmares some of them must have.
