i 'm sorry all of this is not in order.............i'm writing as all this comes back to me.. my first room assignment was room 33 in the 129 building....it was and old building, built around the turn of the century,...the society owned it but it had worldly people in to.......i'm not sure why but maybe there was a law that provented them from being kicked out or something.
it was a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment (about 1000 sq.
ft.) there were 7 of us in there, all new boys ( less then one year there).
New Boy- Thanks for your experiences. My family and I traveled over one thousand miles to visit Bethel twice, because we thought it was like a "pilgrimage" that we should make as Witnesses, and wanted our daughter to see the Hub of Spiritual life. We did not have a clue. Thanks for giving us the real picture of life there.

she's a woman of particular faith; and it's too late for a conversion, and she gets a ticket to the new system anyway, so what a convenient excuse to do nothing.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if I was diagnosed with some illness right now. After more than thirty years in the "truth" I find myself with no friends (I was always careful not to cultivate friendship with worldly people) .
At least this woman knows that she has friends to count on and visit her. A blessing.

Some have had success, so cannot automatically say no. Depends on the circumstances. But just wanted to add that I went out in service during the week with many moms who had their children along--they were on school time, as they were able to somehow count service as a class. Also used Bible study time as reading time.
What's the saying? A student can only be as good as his teacher? What does that say for a child who sits by himself and his "Teacher" is some published workbook? I have seen some results of homeschool which equaled NO SCHOOL.
How does a high school educated mom teach modern Chemistry, Biology, Computer skills, Algebra, and perhaps Psychology to her high school child? How do they compete with teachers in public schools who have a master's degree in their field?

i've read alot of stories on the sextuplets, and it's great to have the media reporting 'bad' light on the no-blood policy & jws in general.
but, we need to ramp it up.
the media is missing the big story - the fraction lie.
JW's are hypocrites to their own belief, and lie to the entire world. THIS IS THE REAL STORY.
After being in the "truth" for over thirty years, I am finally beginning to understand this. For many years, I did not understand, and went along with the thinking that "all the research had been done for me" and that I did not need to bother myself with details, just obey. It began to bother me greatly, though, that I did not understand, and from all the conflicting articles and decisions from the WTS, could not make sense of it.
Now that I have stepped back from the meetings, and am educating myself due to sites like this with links to the current and former HLC committee members I can see that this is exactly the point. How does the organization say that blood transfusion is NOT TO BE ACCEPTED, then in the same breath say that fractions are permitted?
No wonder that with so much conflicting gobbledy gook, no one understands the position of the Witnesses. The above statement explains it all--they DO ALLOW BLOOD---THEY ARE HYPOCRITES.
If I were in a hospital now, and decided to take a transfusion to save my life, I guess I could confidently say that I was willing to accept blood fractions----just not acknowledge that I had taken alot of fractions that eventually made up the whole!!!!!
Thanks for this statement--this will now be my stance when speaking to people that ask about the blood issue.

I for one appreciate the references to Ray Franz' book. I have never read it myself. I found it quite interesting that he showed how the
"rules and regulations" were the result of contacting the service department of the WTS for instructions on how to handle different cases. They, in turn, asked "Freddy." How true that he began to make decisions that affected people's lives while neither knowing them nor the circumstances.
How unfortunate that "rules and regulations" are all that interest the WTS now. Not how much love a person shows or has in his or her heart. Just adherence to the "rules."
I have read on this board comments made by former elders of their dismay that now there is "uncleaness with greediness" as well as uncleaness with all its nit-picking differences. It has become disgusting.
Thanks compound-complex for helping us to unravel the "legalistic" nature of this organization and how it began.

I am thinking that it does indeed come from an outline, as my husband gave that talk so many times I could have almost told you every bit of it. Perhaps it is true. I do not know. I do know, though, that he did give this talk in many kingdom halls. No dry eyes in the place when he was through.
my wife has been keeping me up to date on what goes on in the forum.
i finally decided to join myself.
