I thought that man was given the gift of life and that animals weren't given this same gift so the animals lived and died but humans were made to live forever as long as they did not eat of the fruit causing death.

If death is the result of sin, why do animals die?
by Orgull inmy first week of posts here were very serious and all the wonderful, encouraging replies helped me very much.. so now i want to ask something semi-frivolous.
(actually it's one of the many things that don't make sense to me about "the truth").
why do animals die?.

Another example of WT coverup!!!! Proof of Deciept!!!!! And why it matters.
by Lady Liberty inmany new ones or lurkers may not know this but charles russell was not the first wt president like they teach!
who cares you may say?
well if i showed you where they acknowledged this in 1993, but as recent as 2001 they were still printing he was, would that not be valuable to you to show others the watchtowers deliberate deciept??

I am sure the reasoning would be "Well the WTS wasn't incorporated when Conley was President, blah blah, that makes an important difference because of course if it was not properly incorporated blah blah.....so therefore CT Russell was rightfully named as the first President."
One obscure referrence to the real first president obviously not noted by many. I know I didn't notice it in 1993. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is important but mainly only to us I am afraid......

More Evidence that "666" refers to United Nations
by smontgom ina new book claims that the number 666 refers to the united nations through the name "haaretz haqaturim", which means "the nations of the united ones.
" commonly known as the number of the beast, the number 666 is from the thirteenth chapter of the book of revelation in the christian bible where verse 18 reads: .
"here is wisdom.

It is hard to lose those you love. The memories bring such pain sometimes. I hope that you can go outside and sit in the sunshine for awhile and see flowers and birds and insects and feel better afterward. I know it helps me.

Thank you. We all need reminders from time to time that we have worth, and if we are patient we can arrive at a brighter day. Maybe some on this forum are really looking for these reminders and need them today and how nice of you to share.

3 months, not even a phone call about my late mother from the Dubs.....
by WingCommander inso......it has been 3 months since my mother passed away and not one, not one witness has called, stopped by, or even sent a card to me!
it hit me today.
i mean, i must have gotten like 50 sympathy cards in the mail from her worldly relatives and co-workers, as well as numerous phone calls, but not one witness has done anything!

Shammatta"Disfellowshipping" Jewish Style
by AuldSoul inmatthew 24:48-51 48 but if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, "my master is delaying," and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites.
there is where [his] weeping and the gnashing of [his] teeth will be.. insight on the scriptures, volume 1, p. 787, expelling.
finally, there was shammatta, an entire cutting off from the congregation.

A lot of JWs and ex-JWs believe the GB sucks up to the elders. That was why I asked for their input on the issue. Nothing could be further from the reality. They placate and humor the elders occasionally, but the elders are constantly reminded of their place in the organization; a place FAR below the GB.
True! True! The elders in reality are the "robot drones" who are to carry out whatever "new light" the GB comes up with. A case in point:
I was discussing the 1995 "generation" change with him, and how I couldn't believe that no one, including him, was in an uproar about it. He was the Watchtower study conductor at the time, and said that all he was concerned with was trying to understand the new interpretation-the "new light" so that he could adequately explain it to the congregation as that was his duty. He did not dare to stop and think about whether it in fact seemed reasonable or not. He was just to "assimilate" the information and parrot it to others.
Whatever distasteful chore the GB dreamed up, the elders were the ones to implement it.
My husband, obviously no longer an elder, now calls it "new blight."

Aren't Jehovah's Witnesses just living in a ''Comfort Zone''?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy immediate family, aunts, uncles, and cousins have been members for over 25 years.
they attend every meeting, put in their 10 hours of monthly sevice, attend assemblies out of state every year, give talks at the ministry school, avoid "worldly friends'',and do everything the wts requires of them.
they really can't see that the wts has lied to them and will continue until someone steps back and opens their eyes.. what needs to happen in order for someone to get out of the ''comfort zone''?

For over thirty years, I did not worry about retirement, or an education, as it was not needed. So of course as a Witness my husband and I had (and still have) low paying jobs-but why worry-soooooooooon this system will be over. Just go to the hall, go in service, study, over and over again. Don't think, just do.
All of a sudden, low and behold, I "woke up" and realized that my husband and I are in our fifties, the new system is not here yet, and we have no money to retire on. Not just that, I have no idea how to invest if I did have money.
Add to that, after many, many years of faithful service, hall cleaning, giving talks, etc., if you find yourself sick with no money coming in, they may not even ask how you are but will think you are spiritually weak because you are not as regular at the meetings anymore.
This happened to my husband He became ill, had to have lots of medical tests, couldn't carry out all his elder duties as regularly. After a few months of this, they removed him as WT study conductor, saying he "didn't handle his illness correctly."
This hit my husband, one of the kind of elders who cared about others, like a blow. How do you "handle an illness?" Just be sick on the nights when there are no meetings?
This woke us up out of our "comfort zone" rather quickly.

in the beginning... When did you realise it was the truth ?
by AlphaOmega insorry to do this... and apologies to minimus for pinching his posting style .
a jw friend of mine was speaking about the moment that witnesses "realise that it's the truth".
they didn't say anymore... so i guess that they feel there is a pattern ??.

Oh, gosh, I was the poster girl for the witnesses. They showed me God's name in my Bible, no blood, etc. I thought, "Wow! There it is! I have to believe it." And I did. For over thirty years. No doubts. Didn't need my family, I had THE TRUTH!! Didn't need education, I had THE TRUTH! Didn't need a good job with a future, I had THE TRUTH!
Likewise when I saw inside the front cover of the Awake magazine that they were building my confidence that the generation that saw the beginning of the end in 1914 would BY NO MEANS PASS AWAY UNTIL ALL THESE THINGS HAPPENED, I believed.
When they changed it to those who were alive in 1914 would by no means pass away, and wanted to build my confidence in believing that, I believed.
When they decided in 1995 that they no longer wanted to build my confidence in the generation not passing away, but still wanted me to believe, I began having doubts......
When I found out that the WTS actively sought out association with the United Nations, and promoted them in the Awake magazine, the real awful TRUTHhit me like a ton of bricks..........
