My daughter is 22, also df'd. She was treated horribly by the elders, accused of things she didn't do, and was treated overly harsh for the stupid teen things that she was involved in. That made my husband and I "wake up." She also now has problems with depression. She also is in college, and is making excellent grades. She wants to be a Biologist, with a Psychology minor.
You DO have a choice, and you've been making the right one, even though it is hard! You've admitted you have a problem, for one, and realize that the drugs are only going to exascerbate the problems you already have. You need a clear mind to do all the studying that I know you have to do. Please do follow through with my other suggestions.
Also, deep down, I'll bet Mom is proud of your getting an education.

First of all, welcome.
I am a mother, also. I was a rabid JW. Please know that in Mom's mind, you are going to be destroyed, and she loves you and can't bear the thought. Perhaps it seemed like her rant was "out of the blue" but it is probably on her mind so often, and maybe particularly the night before.
Also, she must be going through some depression because of her husband having so many affairs.
That being said, take stock of your situation. You are going to college-good for you! Please be proud of yourself-and do your best! This is job #1 for you right now. Maybe you can find a quiet place in the library or on campus to study, so that you are not at home so often. Try to get into study groups so that you can meet and be with other young people. Once you are through you will have a degree in your chosen field, and no one can take that away from you! So many doors to interesting things will be open to you. Perhaps you can in some way help others through your chosen career.
If you are out of school for the summer, can you find part-time work to occupy your time? If not, can you volunteer somewhere? Perhaps an animal shelter? Hospital?
Please do not yell back at Mom. Just tell her you love her, and get studying!
i dont know if ive posted this before but here it goes.
my sisters step dad has a nice who well call roxy for now, ive known this kid since she was two and she and my sister grew up together.
roxys mom is a walking disaster; she has five kids all by different fathers (has had at least two abortions), has never worked a day in her life and im pretty sure she does drugs, and probably sells them too, however i cant prove it.
Why doesn't this girl use birth control, have her tubes tied, or get abortions?
I feel for you, because you are convenient, and are being used. She feels free to do whatever she wants, because you are there to serve her needs. When you keep the children, where is she? Out making more?
Yes, I agree with the other poster...you are enabling her. If you are in the U.S., then I, as a taxpayer, am also helping to support her and her lifestyle, and am not happy about it.
If this girl had to sit at home and actually care for all the children, she couldn't be out giving herself to every man that comes along.
These poor children.....what kind of mother do they have.......not one to be proud of, that's for sure.
I hope that you will tell her that these children are HER responsibility and that you will not care for them at your house without her being present, also. If it's HER body, then her body had better get into gear and be a parent and start caring for them.
Perhaps you could demonstrate how to bathe them, read to them, etc. when she does come over. Make her go shopping with you if you buy the kids something.
And yes, by all means, never hand her cash!
