I have a Google article on shunning -

    http://knol.google.com/k/why-jehovah-s-witnesses-practice-religious-shunning#

its had almost 15,000 page views :-)

Anyways from time to time I get a stray JW on there. Today was the day for this one named Russ to say:

What a colossal waste of time! These next few sentences I write will also be a waste of time, but I'm drinking my coffee and the caffeine is making me a bit feisty right now!

Your obsession with proving your "Righteousness" far out-weighs the important issue of "RIGHT" & "WRONG".

Get off the high-horse- the "Apostle" Paul (not you) makes it very clear that those who refuse to live by Christian principals cannot be a part of the "Christian" congregation. How difficult is this to process? If the Apostle Paul said we are suppose to "High Five" everyone we meet, than true Christians should be waving their hands all the way down the street. Why? Because God's word told us to do so.

If you disagree with the way Jehovah's Witnesses obey God's Word about "shunning" those who are unrepentant in their practice of sin, then you disagree with the Bible.

Here's what you should have entitled your Knol, "Why the Bible is too Strict for ME".

    Any takers for suggested responses?

I personally fail to see how human men should be able to deem me unrepentent in practice of sin. My understanding of the scriptures is that you approach Jehovah through the lord Jesus Christ and repent, and by virtue of Jesus ransom sacrifice your sins are forgiven. I have not read or studied the scriptures in years, but can't it be proven from the bible that sins are to be taken to god in prayer, and that the scripture they base disfellowshipping on about "removing the wicked man from among you" has been taken out of context?

Re-translate-if the GB told them to do so. It would be "evident" that God wants us to do that.....

Save your brain power....the WTS does his thinking, and he'probably no longer has the brain cells to do any reasoning.

    Excellent article Besty!

jw said, "If the Apostle Paul said we are suppose to "High Five" everyone we meet, than true Christians should be waving their hands all the way down the street."- didn't the Apostles greet each other with a kiss? why don't jw's do that?

I would tell the person how does he know the person is unrepentent in the first place? He is talking to worldly people who unrepentently commit a sin. What is the difference between a person who dedicated his life to the gb through baptism and a worldy person and they both don't follow the bible? He is saying "oh the bible said this" the bible didn't flat out said "avoid the people who doesn't follow the order of a group of men on this earth" the gb interpretted it that way. big difference there.

What a colossal waste of time! These next few sentences I write will also be a waste of time,

Now you`ve wasted both our time..

How many hours a month of wasted time in the FS,do you report to the WBT$?..

How much time did Jesus require of the apostles,to report every month?..

If you disagree with the way Jehovah's Witnesses obey God's Word about "shunning" those who are unrepentant in their practice of sin, then you disagree with the Bible.

The WBT$ wrote it`s own Bible..They can make it say anything they want..

Here's what you should have entitled your Knol, "Why the Bible is too Strict for ME".

If God wanted Jehovah`s Witness`s to think for themselves..

He would have given them a Brain..

    ...................... ...OUTLAW

    thanks people.

same dude has created his own article here:

    http://knol.google.com/k/russ/jehovah-s-witnesses-are-at-my-door/2orhm67yfbrbg/1#

perhaps you could leave him a comment or two :-)

Jehovah's Witnesses are at my door!

What do I do when they show up at my door?

They must have something to say or they wouldn't keep coming to the door. What's so important that they feel the need to keep knocking on everyone's door?

Jehovah's Witnesses are knocking on doors to show people how their quality of life can be greatly improved by using God's Word the Holy Bible. Even those who don't believe in God find the Bible's principals, if closely followed, are flawless in nature. Family life, work relationships, and personal life decisions can all be handled successfully. Jehovah's people have been trained to teach others how to use Life's Guidebook (The Bible) to answers humankind's most perplexing questions, such as: Why are we here? Why do bad things keep happening to good people? What happens when we die? Will man ever achieve peace? So next time they show up, let them talk. Most likely they will have Bible literature that features some important question that happens to be on the public's mind. The literature will direct you to your copy of the Bible or if you don't have one, will refer you to an internet Bible that you can look at. Finally, when you're ready, you can ask for a free home Bible study that will teach you within six months, about an hour a week, how to use the Bible to make your way in life successful. So really, what could it hurt to open the door?

I would ask the person, why they if they are absolutely sure that they have the truth, that they are worried about engaging with such people, as truth is ineluctable unaltered and unalterable, they have nothing therefore to fear? I would also ask why does thier teaching on shunning cause such deep distress to those shunning and shunned, would anyf well adjusted and loving parent do that to there children and friends, and stipulate that all should do likewise?

    Regards

    David
