Marriage advice needed...am I being unreasonable?

My opinion is (sorry, I didn't read all replies but still wanted to write something)

You should talk about that, directly, without yelling and raging ;)
If your partner has some fobia, they can solve fobias with little psychological help. I don't believe that real reason is fobias, it is more like lazyness or your partner is getting little "old and boring". You must say that traveling is really important to you and so on, I think you will get him off his butt.

And last: Make travel plans to come to Finland. Living Slow life ;)

Yep.. In Finland, goverment has decided that it is easier to give free pass to every JW than to force them to jail. Because some years ago, civil service was not accepted by JW's. Now, when they do accept civil services, many smaller organizations try to change law so JW's should go to civil service also. But now, if you are baptised JW, you get an automatic free pass for 3 years, and then you have to renew it (with paper from congregation) and then you get 3 more years and so on.. Final free pass comes when you are 29 years old.

So you must be "active JW" (spreading the word, giving watchtowers to everyone) and send reports to your congregation to get pass for army.
Free pass renewals go usually like this:
1st is when you are 18 years old when every male goes to "draft force".
2nd is when you are 21 years old.
3rd is when you are 24.
4th is when you are 26-27.
5th is usually when you are 29 and that's final free pass.

So if you are "inactive member" you don't get paper from your congragation and that means civil service. If you apply for civil service, most likely you get problems with elders and they will probably disfellowship you. Because they think it is easier to start field service than go to civil service. That's one way to keep males in organization.

Of course I was told to preach every schoolmate, so that's how they knew that I was a JW.
Every good JW has to preach to everyone and I did that, because I was too young and too stupid back then

Are you at peace with God?

by telling us that we shall be destroyed at armageddon, and that we live a life that god doesn't approve of, the jw's are trying to make us believe that we are at odds with god.. were they successful?

I'm in peace with myself, so I'm in peace with my God. Selfish? Maybe, but working better than when I was a JW.
Back then I was sad all the time and I felt like I'm doing something wrong, when I was happy.

Usually Finnish people just read this board, I think we have some finnish people posting also. Most of people are afraid to write english because they fear that nobody understands them.

I've heard that some native-english people said that finnish people have better knowledge of english grammar than they do :D
May be, because we have to learn english grammar something like 6 years in comprehensive school.

WatchTower Library and unix

have you managed to get wt library to run on unix?.

i have mac osx computer and i would to get library running on my computer smootly.

i have tried using qemu windows emulator but it's slow as hell.. any tips?.

mac osx is unix based, almost all linux software works after little "tuning". with normal i386 system and linux WT lib works perfectly

Yea. WT organization is all the same everywhere ;) Funny that only people who live in USA has replied here... my dream is to move to USA for couple years with my wife, I hope I can do that... getting a visa is real hard. I would like to get to know US culture better, in Finland we have really different lifestyle.. I hope my english is good enough ;)

I slowed down when I was little because of bullying in school. Soon after that I got my internet connection and visited some apostate websites to look for truth. Because "truth can overcome all accusations". Truth could not overcome them :)
