Hey Teejay, thanks for taking the time to copy the questions. It's appreciated!
So, do you have to get them all "right" in order to be baptized or are you still eligible if you get a couple of the answers "wrong"?
1. who is the true god?.
2. what kind of god is jehovah?.
4. what does the bible mean when it says that jehovah requires our exclusive devotion?.

has anyone read this book?
my good friend quotes read it and gave me a brief description about it and said that if the research done on this book was correct it gives great sceptacism on bible facts and credability!
now i believe one example was the dude who wrote the first five books in the bible (moses i think but i can`t remember) but in the fifth book it says that he lived to be 900 so odd years in the third person revealing that it was not this person who wrote these books?.
I've read it. It's a great book. I've bought three copies for friends as gifts and they love it! I highly recommend it!
man!
this one is weird even for the watchtower kult.. * http://www.intrex.net/talley/weep_46.html.
we hung this watchtower picture in our gallery .
I wonder if there is any way to get the picture transferred to a t-shirt? That would "win them without a word" no doubt!
i am new here trying to figure my way around...... i would appreciate it if you could say which of these fits you..... 1. still a jw.
2. if you dont agree with the jw doctrines any longer do you belong to another religious organization now?
3. are still religious and have no religious affiliation.
4 with occasional bouts of five-ishness.
sometime in june i will be put in a situation where i will be one on one with a witness.
(you could say i will be cornered) but i am actually looking forward to this.
this witness thought i was a great person even before i studied, but then after i found out about the truth she believes that i'm being misled by satan so now she is going to talk to me.
Before you do anything I would quickly get to a bookstore or library and get Releasing the bonds:empowering people to think for themselves by steven hassan. This book talks about planning "intervention" strategies and gives some solid advice on how to encourage the thinking process, not just the defensive process.
an experience from pure language network:.
the girl she did not know said she was one of jehovah's witnesses.
jehovah picks our friends.
Grrr, I really shouldn't be exposing myself to such wickedness but I am!
I would have loved to explain that "Jehovah picks our friends" line to my pal. Seems Jehovah picked some worldly types for him, so he hadn't any reason to be ashamed of his worldly buds after all! Oh well.
But, since my skin is crawling anyway...
another PLN nugget from a thread entitled replies to mormonism and islam:
"Karen brought up a scripture that makes it clear there is no need for any holy book beyond the Bible. 2 Tim 3:16. Any others? Since both Mormonism and Islam claim a book or prophet was necessary beyond the Bible, I am putting both in the same thread."
Can they NOT see the problem with dismissing additional books (or a prophet)? Are they really that lacking in insight that they can tell a mormon that the bible is all they need as they attempt to hand them a magazine? Ugh!

JWs are different!!
One interesting point made by the District Overseer's talk is that we do not pick our friends, Jehovah does.
You all in this group are such nice picks from Jehovah!
One interesting experience was of a young sister at school who was at a lunch table with ones talking about dating.
The others were saying "I don't kiss till
the second date...".
So she told them her views on dating.
Another girl she did not know, who was
sitting with them said "oh your views are just like mine".
The first girl then asked "of what religion are you?"
The girl she did not know said she was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
"I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses too".
They both got up and hugged like long lost friends.
A girl sitting at the table was really
impressed.
She got up and went down the hall choose a person at random and asked what religion they were.
The girl said Catholic, "Me too!" she said and with outstretched arms went to hug her.
This other girl said "whoa, back off what do you think you are doing?"
The girl walked off wondering why Catholics were different than Jehovah's Witnesses.
The reason?
Jehovah picks our friends.
i am very confused over the blood fraction matter.
i used to wear the little gold circle; engraved "no blood" pinned to my bra as a child and later carried a "no blood" card till i was 26. i am angry and sorry for all those who lost their lives to a doctrine that is now being redefined.
perhaps soon fine tuned until one can accept all forms of blood.. i recently had surgery and this health care power of attorney was sent to me (filled out by the person who sent it) concerned for my "spiritual well being" she/he wanted me to copy it and give it to my doctors.
Pretty scary stuff. And really quite wrong. It's so sad to thinks of lives lost and ruined over such craziness.
did you guys see that one of the more popular jw sites closed down?
greatcrowd.net ceased to exist.
who's left?.
I know my friend is good at parroting back that "no internet" advice. Oh, he'll still use it, he just keeps away from JW related sites.
It's strange, he's a very intelligent guy but unusually gullible when it comes to scammers and a certain unnamed cult group.
i'm not an elder but i do have a photocopy of the book from the net.
a number of elders in the congregation say that i should hand it over to them as "i should not have it.
" the chief reason they give for their request is that the information therein (such as the chapters on judicial cases) is not for my consumption and would not be of any use to me as i'm not an elder in the same way a book on surgical technique would be of little use to me if i wasn't a practicing surgeon.. the claim is made that those who post confidential "to the body of elders" letters on the net are being dishonest - therefore they are not christians.
stevieB,
how are you managing to have such in depth conversations with your elders without getting the scarlet "A" (apostate) stamped on your forehead?
Are you unbaptized or studying?
You seem to still yield to their authority while simultaneously challenging it. That can't bode well for your future within the organization.
