I got so used to seeing the Kool Aid man, I might have not recognized you as the same poster. So, which one are you? The one on the left or right?

I've noticed that several posters mention Led Zeppelin 4 as a favorite. Makes me feel good, because I had ordered it not too long ago from BMG and expect it any day now. The only Led Zeppelin CD I have is "In Through the Out Door," which is pretty good.
sixsixsixtynine-- I don't think I'll ever get tired of listening to that Brian Eno album. Easily one of his best.
Mr. Flipper-- I've got some greatest hits albums that are stupendous! I already mentioned the Carpenters. I've also got the Bee Gees- "Their Greatest Hits - The Record," Eagles- "The Very Best of," and Foreigner- "Complete Greatest Hits." I once had "A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson" 2 LP album which was great, especially with all of the album artwork and a large (by today's standards) booklet. Alas, I no longer have any records.

Pulling The TriggerThe Watchtower's Discipline

the approach of this topic requires that you temporarily disconnect your emotions.
connected to the watchtower society and view this case from a different perspective.. the perspective of the thread.

The problem with discipline and structure from a high control group such as the WTS/JWs, just assuming for a moment that it is "educational," is the degree of social investment required in such a group that demands you have no outside social support structure. When you widen your social network to the world at large, you risk losing the support of your "friends" who have been taught to stay inside the confines of the group.
To put it simply, it's a bad investment.

Responding To Posters With An Agenda, Who Won't Listen To Reason
by minimus inwhy do we do it??
?

Because, if someone doesn't agree with me, then I must be wrong! I don't like being wrong, because it makes me feel weak, insecure, and vulnerable. So, I must eliminate dissent, because I'm always right! lol. Must be human nature. Oh, and define "reason." All writing is propaganda.

The Story of Mr. & Mrs. Flipper
by flipper init was requested of someone on the board via pm to tell our story.
i'll try to keep it brief, for me that's hard.
mrs. flipper was raised catholic and got out when she was 12 because the nuns and cathlolic school teachers didn't like her independent thinking mind.

Thanks for sharing your story Mr. Flipper. It's amazing how far one has to go sometimes to enjoy a peaceful life. I hope you and Mrs. Flipper have continued success.

P.S. I use the FireFox browser. When I want to separate my paragraphs, I type them in normally and check the "Automatic Cr/Lf" box just below the Post box that I type in. I uncheck the "Check here to use HTML formatting," unless I'm going to add some italics, bold text, or hyperlinks, which is probably more than you want to try right now. -

Why im not intrested in living in Jeh's New World Order.....
by fedorE inthe existence the the guitar is a problem...sure you can playa little..but what happens when someone who has never heard of metal, punk, hard rock or simple rocknroll from this old world start experimenting innocently some sunny day unaware that just under his own fingernails lay the power of evil musical notes-demonic music notes- that strung together would have caused one to be at the very least severely tongue lashed in this old world..but in the new world princes must ensure that all is kept pure and therfore anyone playing the guitar must never invent any song that even remotely sounds like anything from this old world.
perhaps all guitars should be destroyed due to their potential for playing loud screeching metal mayhem.
why take chances.. no competetive sports....oh sure a friendly game of rock counting when ur not enjoying a perfect tomato or singing at the sky in worship.

"No oral sex." --
To be fair to the ladies, well, what's good for the gander is good for the goose. I'm sure that any man who likes what he gets would in turn do his part as well. If not, only then is he a "pig." Ahem. Well.
So, anyway, it's important to remember that the "New System of Things" promoted by Jay Hoober's modern day book club is the fantasy of a bunch of old men.
Do old men play competitive sports? No.
Do old men play electric guitar? Okay. So, maybe they do nowadays, but back in the day's of Rutherford, Knorr, and Franz, they didn't.
Do old men get oral sex?
Now, here's my idea of hypocrisy. We're all supposed to be perfect, right? And that includes our bodies, right? So, no more cellulite, no more love handles, no more pimples, moles, you name it, right? And yet everyone is always dressed up like they just went to the meeting. I suppose Jay Hova expects us to wear full body swimsuits in his paradise, right? Can't have anyone enjoying their "birthday suit." Might offend some pervert angel or something.

The Watchtowers Perspective Seeing IssuesIn Terms Of Black & White
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; } .style2 {color: #ff0000} .style3 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style5 {color: #ff0000; font-weight: bold; } --> the watchtowers perspective seeing issuesin terms of black & white having been a jehovahs witness taught me that issues were seen as good or bad, black or white.
if it came from the society, it was good and if it did not come out of the society, it was bad.
i call this perspective my tunnel vision.

I think it is a mark of strength when one can see different perspectives on things. One can accept that there are few absolutes, which are most often connected to issues of one's own survival and that of those who are closest to us. It doesn't mean one has to agree with all perspectives, but it is useful to constantly question where one's own position is on things. Did that make any sense? lol
The problem I have with the WTS is that they teach certain absolutes that have no basis in reality. For example, they say Jehovah is absolutely good. Now, the Biblical propagandists were fond of saying that, but Jehovah's actions do not fit my definition of "good." Further, they have set up extra-Biblical moral absolutes, like refusing blood transfusions, from which they have gradually backed off, thus exposing their own hypocrisy.
I think that B&W thinking is about control. It's about predictability in a chaotic world. Whether one wants to control others or likes to be controlled themselves. Just follow the rules, they say. Don't think.

My god is my belly. I make offerings to it several times a day. What? That doesn't count? Oh, well, I guess I'm an atheist then.
