this magazine was disturbing to me at the time, but i lost track of it and only recently found it .

this is exactly as it was printed, no photo shop, i am not that clever.. it is credited to a newsagency, jan banning , panos pictures - so i do believe that she was a real child prostitute .

there is something that gets to me even now about this picture.

Actually this is probably as close as we are going to get to having the WTS admit that the Great Trib could involve nuclear war or a nuclear incident of some sort..

We have Iran and North Korea trying to get the bomb, Pakistan (which is dangerously unstable) and India already have it (and I don't trust then one iota) how long can it be before Brazil or South Africa try for it (if they haven't already) not to mention terrorists who could target nuclear plants or explode dirty bombs in the middle of big cities. Then again it could be some damn fool thing over Taiwan that sets the US and China against each other.

Now if a nuclear incident happens it could be viewed as fulfillment of prophecy.

I for one do NOT believe for a moment that the governments will turn on "religion" in general. I believe there could be a backlash against certain religions and again that would just be viewed as prophecy coming true.

Don't Show Mercy to the Watchtower

compassion and forgiveness are important qualities for all of us - but that said, this is not the time to 'let up' or start showing mercy to .

let's consider three ways in which they hurt people:.

first, they injure or wreck families.

Why should you show mercy to the watchtower?

Because the watchtower IS "you." You was it when others felt the same way you do now. It's a never-ending cycle of "you's" who request the abuse, receive it...then bitch about it. Ultimately, when we come full-circle, some of us do as Ozzie recommends: let it be. Hatred for the watchtower only animates the watchtower. Hatred gives it life because, as you well know, "hatred by the world" justifies hating the world back.

Continue the vicious cycle if you like...but if you do, you're playing their game. You lose. The best thing to do is to not view the watchtower as anything at all but an extension of the massive insecurities of millions of folks. We ought to know...because we was there. If you choose to play the game, you are still in its web.

Right on Carlos! It's true the WTS have done some bad things but didn't Jesus say to forgive...up to 77 times? The early Christians didn't take this view towards the Jews. In fact it was only later when the church became corrupt that Jews became a target because they were "Christ killers". How then is the policy of no mercy for the WT any different than the one of no mercy to the Jews?

Like Carlos said it's the same vicious cycle over and over again. This is why the world is in such a mess to begin with because people CHOOSE to pursue such courses of action. What humanity needs, if it is to survive as a species, is people who have the sense to stand above that and say "No more". Disagree if you must but vengance serves no practical purpose.

No it does not. And if they were who cares, i don't.

Agreed. We have always seen guys walking together...that's nothing new. I mean if you see two guys eating together would you automatically assume they are gay? Of course not In fact I think it's good that guys can spend time walking, dining, shopping etc with their male friends. These activities tend to work against the old sterotypes and make people more open and tolerant.

Spring of 2002.

I had not been attending the hall in my old town for years. When I moved to the city I tried going a couple of times (March/April) but quickly stopped. I did know some people in this new hall though and the elders tried to be nice and welcome me (They knew I was inactive). Well after I stopped going a few weeks later the elders caught up with me when they were out in FS and the conversation was all about how we miss you, we'd like to see you come to the meetings, do you need assistance to get there etc then one piped up and said that they had announced to the cong that I had moved in.

Right away, without pause I said "I wish you hadn't done that" and then went on to say that I hadn't made up my mind what I was going to do. After that I never saw the elders again.

the argument has been made on many occasions that death and suffering are a result of adam's sin.in fact, the bible is so clear on this "fact" that it is one of the few things on which nearly every christian denomination will agree.. "therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned romans 5:12. however, i would like to present the case that god had, in fact, not told adam this very thing, and consequently, adam was unaware of what really would take place upon eating the fruit.notice this verse:.

"but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.

" gen.2:17. i highlighted the word "you" because this is absolutely critical.why ?

It was interesting reading this debate. While pouring over the various points one thing struck me as obvious: This debate is really being held in a vaccum because none of us have access to all the facts

Moses is supposed to have written Genesis. How many thousands of years after the events in Eden did those words finally get committed to; quote unquote "paper". There is no way the entire text of the conversation would have survived. We do not have access to all the relevant information and there is no firm gaurantee that what Moses wrote wasn't corrupted somewhere down the line.

And to clarify one more point: Based on what information we do have it is logical to conclude the death sentance was passed on Adam and Eve not because they "ate an apple" but because they disobeyed. There is no record of what fruit it actually was that they ate. The apple is a modern invention.
