I am not and never was a JW but I still think it is wrong to force patriotism on school students.

a bill by sen. william ``pete'' knight would require that all california schoolchildren say the pledge of allegiance daily.
under sb 1248, public school teachers would have to lead students in saying the pledge at the beginning of each school day.
this is very interesting, although i seriously doubt it would pass.

hi everyone, third generation dubber here who had enough sense to leave eight years ago, after utterly wasting thirty years of my life.
i ve faced everything most of you all have,(loss of family and life long friends, and hardships trying to learn how to relate to the world around us) but now i am now enjoying all the best that life has to offer.
just wanted to relate my first hand experiance of how loyalty to the crotchtower is put above everything else even blood.
Hi Geddy,
Are you by any chance a Rush fan?

when i first got on h20 a couple of years ago, someone made the comment that jehovah's witnesses was "judaism with a little christianity and a dash of freemasonary".
i think that is very good observation, and since then i have been studying judaism to get a little insight on the origins of the watchtower.
i am not talking about the jews as a "race", i am talking about the jewish religion.
KJV,
I thought you might find these sites helpful in your research.

if you are looking to go on a cruise in december, on celebrity, in the southern caribbean, make sure you ask who else is on board, before you book!
unless you want to spend your days being preached to on a ship...remember, no escape on the water!.
just got this off of jw on the web: .
Why don't we get our own group for that same cruise and call it the ApostateCruise. Then we could give them a dose of their own witnessing medicine. Since there are more ex-jw's then jw's, our group could outnumber them.
BTW, since I work in the travel industry I know that cruise lines only consider 8 cabins to be a group. The first two weeks of Dec is also off-peak season so the price is fairly cheap then.

"all of them witches" was the name of the book that mia farrow read in in the film "rosemary's baby" which eventually lead her to believe that ruth grodon, ralph bellamy, and several other actors from the 40's and 50's rooming in her apartment were satan-worshippin' wiitches.
in this day in age i think people who are witches in real life have to live with various stereotypes permeated from movies, t.v.
shows, and whatnot.
I have been an electic witch for 10 years and studied witchcraft with my mother since I was a kid. My father has been studying the Kabbalah for a few years.
Unlike what many believe, especially JW's, Witches are not bad people and are not Satanic in anyway, shape or form. Witchcraft is a positive Earth religion that believes in the laws of Karma. Our actions both positive and negative come back three-fold.
There is even a web site for ex-Jehovah's Witness who are now Pagan. www.exjwpagans.org

below is a reply to the dateline programme over on the "just jw" forum.. if i ever show any interest in becoming a dub, please kill me!.
from: reasoningonthescriptures sent: 03/06/2002 10:40. brothers and sisters, i have read all of the posts on this subject although i didn't manage to see the show myself.
i have been quite disturbed by some of the things i have read here.
The problem with JW's is that they under-estimate the intelligence of the average non-JW. This is why they spend thousands of hours in service just to get one bible study.
This idiot's thinking or should I say, lack of thinking may be food for thought to the die hard Witless, but it won't work on the public.

Thus, although they investigate every allegation, the elders in not authorized by the Scriptures to take congregational action unless there is a confession or there are two credible witnesses, However, if two persons are witnesses to separate incidents of the same kind of wrongdoing, their testimony eon be deemed sufficient to take action:--l Timothy 5:19, 24, 25.
What about DNA? DNA is inarguably the best evidence out there. What if there are no witnesses but a positive DNA test?

i read a thread recently where syn was discussing a watchtower book study.. is it really true that they ask you the questions at the end of the chapter and make you restate the a few sentences directly from the few paragraphs that you just read as the anwser?.
was syn neglecting anything of importance that would be needed to make a more accurate assesment of the situation?.
because reading back something that youve just read dosent sound very challenging.
Jerome,
It's called indoctrination. If you were to repeat something over and over again, eventually your mind would believe it to be true. The witnesses read the paragraphs prior to the study, read it again during the study, and then read it again to answer the questions.
This is a popular tactic that cults use. It is also known as affirmations. During my study of self mind control, I used to repeat positive affirmations to build self-confidence. For more information on this see www.freedomofmind.com

all of the non-jw's that i know were shocked to hear that the jw's consider worldly people to be part of satan's world.
most non-jw's only know that the jw's are holy rollers who go door to door trying to convert.
they really don't know much more about them and to learn this was a bit of an education.. devon
Venice,
What really infuriated a co-worker is that his JW friend does not salute the flag, does not vote and is anti-gov't but she was one of the first ones to stand in line at the unemployment office when she was layed off from her job. Many of her JW friends were/are collecting welfare too.
