  LETTERS TO BOE/DON"T WATCH DATELINE?

  has anyone seen or heard of any letters going out from headquarters to the body of elders directing them to inform the congregations not to watch dateline?

  i was wondering if this is really true or just a rumor.

  if it is true, this is terrible that they can actually deny members freedom of press or punishment.

  I certainly agree with your your points. Informing the Non-JW public is the way to go. Suing can be a little more challenging because there are ways around paying off debt by filing for bankruptcy. A few months ago the Hare Krishna's were sued for child abuse also and they lost. To avoid paying off the debt, they filed for bankruptcy.

  I would like to add another way to make change. 3) Call and write to politicians to make changes in laws. Many states still don't require clergy to report child abuse to authorities.

  If there is a special meeting scheduled they will videotape it which is even better. That way they can watch it more than once and share it with others.

  Just like Ajaxman, I also am not and never was a JW. He is right about informed non-jw's bringing this subject up during field service.

  The Pandellos, Bill Bowen, and Barbara Anderson are being unfairly treated by the WT just because they are doing the right thing. At the very least, I hope JW's will be more aware of who they trust with their kids at the Kingdom Hall.

  Become a Witness??

  hello all...well i am very new to this site.

  i have recently been contemplating of fiding out more about the jehovah's witness religion.

  i have done some research, have talked and am friends with witnesses, and am ready to take it a step further.

  One, you may want to read the book that is advertised on your post under your name. I was also take the time to research the WT history on the internet. A great website to do this is www.freeminds.org. The Watchtower Society has an embarrassing past history that they try to coverup. JW's try to discourage potential recruits to stay away from JW web sites that are not approved by the Watchtower Society. That is because they don't want the truth to come out about them.

  Another great web site is www.freedomofmind.com Most Cult experts agree that the JW's fall under the category of cult or destructive mind controling religion. Freedom of minds explains how cults recruit and how to determine if a religion is a cult.

  to me, this seems exactly like the jw's banging on doors on a saturday morning.

  It isn't very productive to direct any anti-Watchtower campaign to a JW. It is more productive to educate the public on the dangers of the WT Society.

  As far as the Christian exjw support groups, I agree, they have the same motive as the JW's.

  DIM,
  I have to disagree with you on this one. Our group does send out material, but not to JW's. We don't waste time and money on letters JW's perceive to be apostate. We send letters to non-JW's in neighborhoods prone to have cults recruiting. Our letter doesn't promote any religion or bash any religion but warns the neighbors of the dangers of cults, how to determine if a door to door missionary is part of a cult, and how to question them. Since joining a cult can be just as dangerous as drugs, I don't see how our campaign is any different.

  If helping someone avoid getting involved in a potentially dangerous cult is not having a life, then what is?
