awake of 10-8-02 brings out a number of things that good christians would avoid due to god's view of how precious a gift , life is.
here's some of the things on the list....no bullfighting, no running of the bulls,no motorcycle stuntmen, no climbing of skyscrapers without safety equipment, no steep snowboarding, bungee jumping, parachuting from airplanes with another strapped to you, no climbing ice-covered cliffs, no sky surfing,no base jumping, no rock climbing,no car-surfing,no climbing mt.
everest, no thrill-seeking.....any that do such things show contempt for the marvelous gift of life......did i forget anything else??
So what is more dangerous?
Field Service in a bad neighborhood or parachuting from an airplane with another strapped to you?
i am officially retiring my other two personas (mister biggs and mister 8iggs).
quick history: i chose biggs because i am a huge fan of ronald isley (and his brothers).
i initially added 8iggs because i went over my quota for posts one day.
It takes a lot of guts to come forward. The Watchtower no longer owns you.
BTW, I am practically a neighbor. I live in the Korman Suites in Meadowbrook, PA (right near Rydal)

most of us have experienced the frustration of trying to convince a friend or relative that the wts is not what it claims: an organisation backed by 'god'.. of course, it is very difficult to prove a negative and a real die-hard believer will explain-away any evidence of wrongdoing by the org.
as they are trained to do so well.. i have found it good to reverse the question and ask them:.
"what would the wts have to do to convince you that it wasn't god's organisation?".
Musky,
Even the witnesses agree that there is no 100% proof that any religion is God's chosen religion. This question could start them thinking.

a non-witness friend of mine sent the following letter to the local kingdom hall in her area.
this should send a strong message to the elders on how the public feels.. devon .

Dear Mr. XXXXX,
My name is XXXXX and I live in the Brookwood Gardens development which consists of 125 houses and happens to be in your Kingdom Halls territory. My development consists of homeowners of all faiths. I am a Catholic and wish to stay that way. With an increase in number of Jehovahs Witnesses evangelizing in this neighborhood, the majority of the people living here got together and took it upon ourselves to research your religion. You can only imagine what we have learned.
If you want members of your congregation to see Watchtower publications consisting of the many false predictions, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
If you want members of your religion to see all of the newspaper articles showing how the Watchtower Society covers up child abuse to protect their image and not children, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
If you want members of your congregation to see undeniable proof that the Watchtower owns 50% stock in a company that produces Smart Bombs and sells them to the United States military, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
If you want members of your congregation to learn of the Watchtowers involvement with the United Nations, and that their library excuse is a lie, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
If you want members of your congregation to learn about how the Jehovahs Witnesses bribed the Mexican military, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
If you want members to see photos (on Kodak paper) of C.T. Russells grave with a pyramid, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
If you want members of your congregation to learn of Beth Sarim, Beth Shan, and other changed history, please send them to Brookwood Gardens.
As I write this letter, I am still learning more about your religion. We are also in touch with 3 other developments, sharing this vital information.
Sincerely,
XXXXXX
my vote goes to krispy kreme because they make one delicious glazed donut/doughnut!
I love Dunkin Donuts chocolate glazed donut and a cup of their famous coffee. There is also a lgood donut shop in Warminster, PA called Yum Yum's.

the producer from dateline called us to make sure we would be at the march on the 27th.
they are sending a film crew to cover it and i hope there will be a nice turnout to represent all who have had watchtower imposing silence of their sexual abuse.
they may do a follow up to their earlier program that aired last spring.
The Watchtower's 3 big nemesis are the internet, the media and the law.

never being a jwi have a question.
my dub friend invited me to her church (whatever) one sunday, which i of course i went - it was ok - nothing special, except i know what you mean about being "love bombed".
my question.... do any non-dubs go to the weekly bookstudies?
Double Edge,
If you go ask this question:
"By a show of hands, how many pedophiles are here in this room?
never being a jwi have a question.

I am also a non-dub and went to one meeting which was a book study. It struck me funny to see so many of the dubs make such stupid unfounded comments that made absolutely no sense what so ever. It was chapter 10 in Isaiah's Prophecy. They were bashing the stock market which tempted me to ask about Rand Cam but I behaved. Thinking back on it, I am laughing all over.
I did not ask questions and it was a good thing. Apparently I already had a reputation. A few months prior to going to the BS (book study), I showed my newly baptised friend copies of old WT publications about the false prophecies, Beth Sarim and Russell using Pyramidology. This was the first time he heard about this and showed it to several of the elders and pioneer at the Hall. When my friend introduced me to some of the witnesses, one of them said, "We've heard all about you." The elder, Brother Pompous Ass, was not friendly to me at all.

i've just registered on this site.
i'd like to kick off by asking this wealth of experience what your most successful witnessing to witnesses tips are.
so if you're a non-and-has-never-been-a-jw, what stops them in their tracks?
Hi and welcome here.
I never was a JW but I am a householder with a front door. Non-JW's are more of a target for recruit since most don't know much about the JW's history, scandals and strange doctrines. As soon as a Witness learns a "worldly" person has been on the Internet looking at anti-JW sites, most discontinue any further religious discussions. A few persistent ones will defend the Watchtower but most won't because they don't want to hear what we have learned since they are in denial. They are now competing with the Internet.
Bringing up the Wt's child abuse policy has been very successful in stumping the Witness. As a matter of fact, as soon as it's brought up, they tend to freak out on people.
Just my own opinion and experience.
