As a JW were you ever counseled about clothes you wore, or lack thereof ?

thought this could get interesting discussing experiences.

i for one was trying to reach out for ministerial servant again in the early 90's , had been one before, and was assigned to carry the microphones one meeting.

had an elder call me in the back room and say , " brother flipper, i noticed looking down towards your shoes that you are wearing white socks today.

I was instructed that 'Bow-Ties' were NOT allowed,

this was by an elder whose fleshly brother has his picture on the web at the dedication of a new KH,

wait for it, perhaps you've guessed

wearing a 'BOW-TIE' AND representing WTBTS HQ from New York!!!

have found out from reliable source that the object of our hatred at the mo( and still very deserving of our loathing though he may be) was actually disfellowshiped years ago, am still working on the exact details but will share them as soon as i get them guys.will try and get the date of his disfellowshiping etc n let you know.

so sis in law father has been on dialysis for yrs and is elderly and hubby just got a text from his bro 'just so you don't put your foot in it ******'s father is stopping dialysis this wk and has 2 wks to live' (hes a jw too).

so i said to hubby he should reply and mention how sorry we are but he said why as they're treating me(dobs) like dirt and he doesn't see why he should.

but although they have cut me out now totally it seems i still think i should do something.

Don't worry about what THEY are going to think; do what you and your husband feel is right for you.

If they find everything is wrong, does it matter what you do, just go by YOUR feelings.

Did You Know Many Dumb Elders?

i did.. there were some pretty sharp guys but there were a lot of not so bright ones.

the worst elders were the ones that thought they were very intelligent but really were stupid.. one elder that fits that description was a man that loved to speculate on prophecies, watchtower wording, someone's facial expressions or mannerisms.

he truly believed he was more enlightened than anyone else.

Most are dumb and going on to plain stupid,

I knew one really good elder. John Holtham, who unfortunately is not now with us.

Would You Like To Know What Goes On At Elder's Meetings?

have you ever wondered what goes on at an elder's meeting?

after a prayer, the presiding overseer will state what the purpose of the meeting is.

if it's a quarterly meeting, the elders will discuss the spirituality of the congregation, its spirit and any dangerous trends that may be observed.

I bet they discuss which elder has told the biggest lie of the month.

In my wife's cong the elders even lie to each other, what chance has the truth got?

i just read mr. flipper's thread about politics & appointments and began to wonder: what does a ministerial servant do?

how would one become an ms?

my hubby is gung-ho, so this might be something he's after, but i need to know more of what it's about so i can look for signs..

They tell the same lies as the elders, they join elders for visits to wayward publishers and learn to threaten and cajole dubs to return to the fold.

They spy on dubs at the meetings and report to the elders, any dubs without the right mags and books or ones who haven't highlighted the meetings bits.

They are usually bigger and better idiots than the elders.

i was told i'd not see the end of primary school - i did.. i was told i'd not see my teens - i did.. i was told i'd not finish high school - i did.. i was told i'd not start college - i did.. i was told i'd not have time to start a family of my own - i did.. -------.

there was a lot of emphasis placed on the end of this system coming soon...they were wrong.

no wonder people are screwed up or having a hard time.

just off the top of my head: cain & abel, the flood, the guy who was going to sacrifice his son (isaac?

), the slaughter at jericho, jesus (and that includes torture), and all the death in revelation.

and many thousands more in other battles etc.
