it's been 8 years since i had to go to a meeting so i've forgotten alot of what i did myself, but add to the list what you did if you were a child made to sit still and in silence through the meetings and assemblies.. .

My earliest & most effective strategy was probably the simplest--I fell asleep.
When that quit working, I too became rather 'artistic' by adding 'color' to those graphic images in the Paradise book, & that Pepto-Bismol-colored book (Great Teacher???), of people being incinerated at Armageddon..

it really makes me angry when they say i love jehovah.
they don't know what they are talking about.
if they read with an open mind the carry-ons of this cruel mesopotanian god they would feel ridiculous and embarrassed for putting this god before their family, their children.

recently a female friend of mine was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
she is 22, and has a long fight ahead of her.
in my 35 years of this life, if there was a year book that showed all the friends and family members that i have known, far to many would have a note saying "died from cancer, on such and such date.
And I thought I was the only one...
In my family--my father, grandfather, great-grandfather, two aunts, & one cousin (all on the paternal side). Those are the ones that DIED. The ones who have had it & won the battle are almost too numerous to count. I do know of one cousin on my mother's side (non-JW) that just beat leukemia...for the second time..
Is it any wonder some of us lie awake at night...

Very true about the immune-enhancing & disease-fighting properties. My mother was stricken with hepatitis while she & my father were missionaries in Guatemala, & raw garlic (along with lots of fresh fruit & vegetable juices) was one of the cures. My Jewish grandmother always put lots of it in her chicken soup, too. Jewish (or Russian) penicillin, as they call it..
i stumbled across this site last august and created an account but a series of events led me to run away (i can post the story if you like) and i have been moving around a bit until i finally got settled some.
along the way due to my mother's sheltering i had some bad experience because i didn't know as much about the real world as i should have.
i ingested as i have before a psychoactive one night and a surge of memories came rushing back to me of my childhood and a massive handfull of them were tied to the time i was made to endure going to the kingdom hall and socializing with many members outside of.

we all know witnesses believe in the paradise.
they make it seem like it will be such a beautiful place free of crime, pollution, sadness,etc.
but, if there was really going to be a paradise here on earth the world as we know it would be so different.
I would miss steaks with A1 sauce & big, mealy baked potatoes..
I would miss meditating in the mountains at sunrise with incense burning & Pink Floyd on the CD player...
I would miss the occasional mentholated cigarette, & that nice, warm feeling that comes from two or three successive shots of good tequila..
I would miss the sound of a Porsche 911 at the stoplight (& my dream of owning one someday..)
And I would miss this site

It did not surprise me in the least to read that, given our apparent similarities, you have fallen within the autism/Asperger's spectrum in online tests. I would probably take the advice of others on this thread, though, & seek out a professional opinion. I can't begin to describe how freed & liberated I felt at the time of my November diagnosis. By that time, I was so weary & impatient from all of the other helpful but incomplete diagnoses, not to mention all of the trial & error (about a dozen failed medications in as many years), that I just wanted it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak..
The thought has also occurred to me that, living in the Bay Area, you have a distinct advantage which many of us (myself included) do not: access to one or more ex-JW support groups in the area. Last time I explored the Randy Waters support group site (http://randytv.com/supportgroupslist.htm), there seemed to be quite a number of groups in the San Francisco & Silicon Valley vicinities. Who knows, there might be a group waiting to offer encouragement & support just down the road..
