That’s hard to do since many are still in the org. Unless I got the Reasoning Book definition wrong, any person that become inactive can be classed as the big A

Has anyone else been referred to as a "New Wave Apostate"
by 30girl inone of my friends parents referred to us (my sweetie and i) as "new wave" apostates.
has anyone else heard this term, been referred to as one?
i was just wondering if this is a new attempt to squash critical thinking?

Da Vinci Code, what did you think?
by gaiagirl ini had recently read the book, "the da vinci code", and just saw the movie this weekend.
essentially, the plot revolves around a 2000 year old "cover-up", in which it is claimed that jesus was married to mary magdelene and had children.
this knowledge was suppressed by the early church, but kept alive by a secret society of which leonardo da vinci was a member.

The book is a must read. Which presents the problem for the movie; movies are always a let down when a book is exceptional.

I have a thought
by orangefatcat inwith the bethel homes downsizing and letting people go into congregations and moving others to new areas, i had this thought.
doesn't it seem odd that the wts is getting rid of older ones at bethel like seniors and i thought i bet they are doing this so that as these witnesses become older they would be a burden on the bethel.
i was thinking that the orangization doesn't want to be strapped paying for medical bills or witnesses who will need constant help or ones who have diseases like alzheimer's.

A side note on the down sizing, why are they planning to build four new towers with 1000 or so beds if everyone is going home or to Patterson.

what a revelation!
by solo inthis is my first post and what a revelation this site has been to me (excuse the pun) if only this had been available when i walked away from the "truth" in 1987, it would have made life a lot more bearable for me.. i was brought up a jw and was baptized at 14 because i thought it was the right thing to do, endured a very strict upbringing combined with the dreadful routines of worship, study and door knocking.
we were deprived of any enjoyment (tv, friends, outings, fun, etc).
education was a bit of a disruption, having moved to where the need was greater our schooling was interrupted so many times we never made any friends.

Before leaving our old Hall (18months or so) I had a conversation with the PO and he said that over the past several years all halls have been becoming more polarized. There are those who will die a witness and those who are there for the social connections only – low service hrs was an indication of that. After he made this observation I began to see what I all ready knew – anyone under 45 just don’t care for the BS but continue because their parents are in the other camp. Its sad really, wasting of lives that way. We are trying to pull others free before we get the official axe (sooner the better)

How many letters that have been sent in have received an answer? That is to say actual questions inquiring of the real issues, child abuse, UN, hypocrisy etc. So why would we expect any different response this time, whether or not we put a real name/address on it or not. I don’t think anyone here is going to expect any type of answer, even though our questions are legitimate. So the use of fake addresses will result in possibly two things: 1) They do respond and the letter gets sent back, undeliverable. Highly unlikely. 2) They send direction to the elders who then drive up and down the street looking for a house that’s not there. No harm no foul. Personally I am going to use my own name and address when resubmitting questions that never were answered. Next issue is timing, all at once or over a 2-3 week period. Lets discuss the possibility of each.

So is America finally getting wiser? Who still believes this nonsense?
by Jourles inwashington (afp) - for the first time since it began, a majority of americans believe the iraq war is not part of the war on terrorism, as us president george w. bush keeps insisting it is, according to a poll.. fifty-one percent of the 1,206 adults surveyed in the august 17-21 new york times/cbs news poll believed the two wars were separate, while 44 percent saw a link between them.
in june, opinion was split evenly at 41 percent..
rest of the story here.
