I never believe some of the stories in The Sun, even if it's about dubs. My colleagues at work read that trash to look find out the latest gossip about celebrities, and to look at Page 3 girls showing their breasts. The paper's a comic. One of these days the headline will read: ELDER'S WIFE BITES OFF MINISTERIAL SERVANT'S......................( Fill in the blanks)

Why does it seem to be unhappy people who are attracted to the JWs?
by new boy ini have had time to think about this........... i was an attendent for many years.......... and looking up and down the rows at every family that was seating there in the khs........... no one was happy!.
i think of my mother (who brought this religion into our house)......she was one of the most unhappy and miserable people you would ever meet!
she was a spiritual orphan with few friends and no real family to speak of.. she got the "good news" back in 1950, that "the world" was a bad place and god, would soon be killing most everyone......she was thrilled!...............

I've been asking the question for about two years why was I attracted to the jws. I wasn't unhappy or depressed, in fact dubs couldn't understand why I was so cheerful, but when Blondie mentioned economic problems, it hit the nail on the head. I left the navy in June 1991, and spent months applying for jobs, but getting turned down again and again, they kept saying I was over qualified for these jobs. My self esteem was at an all time low then, and I felt employers were showing disrespect to a man who fought for his country in the Gulf months earlier. When the dubs show in the Bible that God would put an end to all injustice, and there will be plenty of work for all, yes I was all ears. It took me about 2 years to realised it was BS.

DOES ANYONE STILL NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS???
by chuckyy injust wondering if anyone still does not celebrate xmas since leaving jws.....or like me do you think"to hell with it", and join in the festivities.
if you do celebrate it, do you still have pangs of guilt for celebrating this "pagan" festival???.

I never celebrated it before I became a dub, and I don't intend to celebrate now that I'm out. In my job, we only have Christmas and Boxing Day off, so I just spent the day chillin out.

Redemption song by Bob Marley. It has always meant something to me, but since my/our physical and mental slavery to the watchtower, it means a lot more now than it ever did before.

I'm celebrating for the first time in 15 years, and I'm going to taunt that flipping lazy elder I work with. I'm going to decorate the whole office, if he says anything, I'll give him a mouthful.

What is your favorite JW year ? 1879 - 2006
by The_Replacement inthe oddest one for me is 1935, where do they get this idea that heavens doors were closed ???.
makes no sense at all.. where did jesus say in the bible that in 1935 heavens doors would be closed.. with the governing body all dying off, soon the whole governing body will be replacements !

fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome
by reneeisorym ini remember when i was in the dubs, there were tons of sisters all with the same set of mild depression and fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrom symptoms.
i wonder if this was related to the hell jws put you through or if it was just something one woman had to have because the other did.
i haven't heard of hardly anyone having it outside of the dubs but in the congregation about 75% of the women had it!

I know many sisters who have CFS, and they also seem to suffer from depression. I have asked these sisters what hospital and which specialist have they seen for their illness. The answer I've always get back is that they got the symptoms of CFS as outlined in the August 92 Awake, and haven't seen a doctor for it. This really annoys me, as my wife has been seeing a specialist for years, plus she was born with a disability, which may have contributed to it. None of these sisters work, she does, full-time. She has been told by the doc to pace herself and do an normal routine everyday, but don't over do things, and she's a very cheerful woman.

Jean-Luc Picard. I love reading, but hate reading Shakespeare. My mother says I have a parade-ground manner.
