By the way, are you seeing that it is more and more becoming a 'badge of honor' to be able to say that you were kicked out by this group?

And now they have the gall to draw single parents into their tent?
May I suggest that one of the signs carried in the march ought to read, "Warning! The Pedophile Paradise is now seeking single parents! Run!!!"

Caught on Tape Beating Child
by plmkrzy infor some reason my real one player isn't showing the video so i don't know if it's my player or a problem w/the link.
anyway i saw this on the news last night and again this morning.

All I could think of was that this happens A LOT but we don't usually get to see it. And neither do the people to whom it would really matter.
I hope this is the beginning of some BIG realizations and changes in society.
I heard her lawyer defending her, "She's not really a bad person".
I'm reminded of Jackie Kennedy's words, "If you bungle raising your kids, nothing else you do in life really matters very much."
I'm reminded of something that is NOT common knowledge but ought to be. While men are the most common sex offenders, WOMEN are the biggest perpetrators of violence and violent crimes against children.
I also heard someone say that the little girl was 'checked out' by medical professionals and that she had neither terrible physical injuries or 'any indication of psychological injuries'.
Like what kind of morons are these medical professionals in the area of psychological injuries?
Once again, I recommend that all interested parties check out the book. "Understanding the Bordeline Mother".

What the hell was I thinking?
by joannadandy inhave any of you ever had a moment your life you replay in your mind?
over and over, and thwack your head against the wall saying "what the hell was i thinking?
" or going along just fine, and then have something remind you of the time you were a total loser--and you blush uncontrollably (for no reason at all the outside world seems to think) and rush for the nearest brick wall to commence with the "what the hell was i thinking" battery?

It's interesting that this plays over and over in your mind.
Are you trying to figure out what you did wrong?
You didn't do anything 'wrong'.
Are you trying to figue out what to change so this doesn't happen to you again?
For your own benefit, you might not have felt so embarassed if you had 'fished' for an answer to that question before you took the plunge and put yourself out there so vulnerably.
For instance, when he bought something at your counter, you could have said, "Oh, I really like that? Maybe it's just a woman-thing. Does your wife like it, too?" or some such other nonsense.
If he had any sense at all, he would realize you MIGHT be searching for something and if he any respect for everyone's dignity, he would have answered in an absolutely truthful way that would've allowed everyone to 'save face', including him.
Or you could have asked him or commented flat-out. "Are you married?", "You're probably married, right?"
I don't know why he didn't wear his ring. But anyone in customer service who takes his ring off and engages in flirty conversations is big-time suspect in my book.
Maybe he artfully 'played' you, for his purpose, which may have simply been the desire to feel like he was attractive to other women, even tho he's now married.
Without a doubt, his ego was stroked by your utterly sincere, charming and flustered effort.
His lack of follow-through (like he could've apologized for not wearing his ring and given you an explanation for an understandable mistake which was entirely his fault), but his lack of follow-through makes me suspect that he was aiming for that effect on you.
If you want to get him back, I suggest that you do a Dr. Phil on him.
"Is that really working for you? To take your ring off like that? Does that lead a lot of women to fall for your flirty ways?"
"Is that working for you? Does it improve your sales?"
"Is that working for you? I wonder what your wife would think of that."
Or, if your workmates are around to hear it....
"That's really too bad that you can't wear your ring. Do you have one of those nasty fungal infections? I knew this guy who had that and they couldn't get rid of it for years. And it smelled bad, too. In fact, they weren't even sure what it was at first and then, they finally had to amputate his finger. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go through that, don't you?"
Pick any two.
You get the idea.
Sorry for letting my nastier side come out there for a minute.
I hope it at least put a smile on your face.
One last comment. Through all of this, he couldn't read your mind or your heart.
Especially not if he really is the self-absorbed, ego-stroke-seeking drone that he might appear to be.

Wow.
I recall using one of those very articles (I even recall which one!) for one of my little 'talks'.
It was really a jolt to read it again. Thanks for posting this. It was good to see it all again.
Someone asked whether we could think of anything good that came out of our being raised as witnesses. And I had thought of a few.
But seeing this really makes me sorrowful for all the time I wasted, devotedly learning so much garbage. The good is so very much overshadowed by all the bad.
Another post on this thread makes me try to recall exactly what those pictures were in the Paradise Lost book.
They really were of 'just ordinary folks', going about their ordinary lives, going to work, walking through downtown streets, when whamo, earthquakes and chaos and the wrath of God destroyed them.
Do I remember that correctly? I vaguely recall some little child flying up into the air while God did his rage-filled 'housecleaning'.

I Got Bit By a Squirrel!
by Funchback ini feed the squirrels that hang out near my home.
there are (4) that take advantage of free peanuts.
one out of the four comes up to greet me as i park my car in the driveway.

Give the squirrels some Perrier water (from France). Honestly, for some reason, during the plague, the area around Perrier was completely unaffected. Someone suspects it might have been that the Perrier water killed the rats.
(And that's the end of my being funny on the matter - I love squirrels, too and feed them, too. That's a very intersting observation about their eyesite.)
I agree with the poster who advised you to have the squirrel captured and looked after for a few days by someone who is professional in this area. That would probably be handled by your town or county.
The chances of it actually having something serious are extremely remote, but it would put your mind at ease and not hurt the squirrel, either.

Vicki Boer trial: Friday Sept 20
by expatbrit insome notes from the vicki boer trial today (friday).
the morning was taken up by testimony and cross examination of dr. silver, an expert witness in psychiatry called by watchtower.
the basic thrust of his testimony was to minimize the trauma experienced by vicki during the four different interogations by the elders and confrontations with her abuser.
-
Dia
Regarding Dr. Silver's testimony:
Not only would the victim not be forced to tell their testimony 'in front of the abuser', they would not be FORCED to talk about it at all to anyone.
It is a very basic nature of therapy and of healing that the victim is in control. Especially in the area of sexual abuse, where the crux of the matter is that their very basic right to have say-so over their own body and their own dignity has been ignored, manipulated, disregarded or snatched away from them.
Dr. Silver can be easily discredited by almost any professional working in the field.
His testimony reveals just one more bit of disregard and attempted discreditation of the victim on the part of the WTS.

I can't believe I'm the first one to mention this:
Who are the most needy and vulnerable group of parents?
Who would most likely (and unwisely) entrust their children to the care of almost any willing and nice-seeming church folks?
Where are child molestors most likely to find new victims?
Oh yes, in the home of overworked, overstressed, living-at-the-poverty-level single parents.
Oh, and especially if they can get 'god' and their own little 'community' to back them up, too.
And, as a bonus, it also provides an opportunity for child molestors to demonstrate their repentant little hearts. Or at least to show the world that they're trying, they're really, really trying to get over this little 'weakness' of theirs.
Excuse me while I vomit.
As someone once said, 'If you're going to tell a lie, tell a big one. It's more likely to be believed."

Assembly picketing
by freedom96 in.
when i went to the assemblies, i would see people picketing, holding signs up, etc.
you would have "security" to look out for green bibles, and keep opostates out.. i never looked at them with hatred, never really gave it much thought at all.. i am curious if anyone here has participated in protesting the assemblies, and what were the reactions?

Perhaps one should carry signs saying, "Don't Look at Us", "Don't Read our Stuff", "Don't Do Anything Unless the Watchtower Says You Should", "Do Everything the Watchtower Tells You to Do", "Don't Think, Just Obey", "Don't Use Your Brain", "Stop Thinking!", "Everyone But Jehovah's Witnesses is Evil"
