i have had two very interesting yet weird experiences in the last couple of years, and would like some opinions on them.. i had a customer come into my store about 1 1/2 years ago.

The WTS would think that anyone with almost ANY level of 'intuition' is demonic. Or evil. Or at the very least, WRONG.
How could they not?
Growing up a JW, I would have to say that is one horrible thing they managed to do to me. They shamed me out of my intuitions - about people and life and situations and a gazillion other things.
Took a long, long time and lots and lots of hard work to get them back.

Regarding the above article, I find the part about sex offenders lacking the ability to empathize to be fascinating, especially insofar as it regards JWs.
I think people who grow up without empathy are basically people to whom empathy was not demonstrated or given in childhood.
Isn't the WTS a breeding ground for this type of mindset?
Don't JWs spend hours and hours and hours practicing how to NOT LISTEN to other people? And how to shame themselves out of their own thoughts and feelings?
Doesn't the WTS praise and reward people for coldheartedness, especially toward their own children?
Additionally, they tear down all reasonable personal boundaries, sexual and otherwise, by snooping, encouraging others to snoop, setting rules and demanding a level of personal revelation that is downright perverse.

i am new to all of this, even tho i have not been going to the meetings for nearly 4 years now, through the basic hypocrisy that i faced and the witch hunt i have had to put up with over the last few years.
because i dare to expose the bent dealings of a car salesmen, who happened to be a p>o> i tried to ignore all of this and thought let them get on with it.
my wife continued going to the meetings, and was shunned the whole 4 years, despite both of us being very active members of the cong.

What happens in the real world?
They're sentenced for varying lengths of time, depending on the crime. Perhaps get some 'in house' treatment? Depends on where they are.
They automatically go on a registered sex offenders list.
Their name, photo, address and crime are posted for all the world to see - even online. And can be gotten for free by anyone, from the local police department.
Astute parents and/or teachers check these things out so they know their 'neighbors'.
In the end, it all comes down to parents or guardians to look out for their kids.
I agree about what SHOULD happen.
But at the moment, this is what we have to work with.

FYI, looking into adoption does not commit you to doing anything, one way or the other.
In fact, in most states, it is the law that you have until three days AFTER THE BIRTH before anyone can hold you to any agreements you make. In other words, you have a lot of time to consider your options.
Don't go the abortion route. As someone else said, whichever you choose, you will live with the consequences the rest of you lives.
Abortion doesn't make anything disappear.
