I worked for an elder once who was a.....you guessed it a janitor. He wrote me bad checks. Wrote me checks that I couldn't cash for a week. Sometimes I didn't get paid until 3 weeks after I was supposed to be paid. He'd pick me up late drop me off early and sometimes he'd say he was on his way and not show up at all. Finally the wife and I talked it over and I quit. And to this day he still can't figure out why. By the way this is an ongoing thing with him. This same thing has happened to other brothers in the congregation who've worked for him.

WERE YOU CONSIDERED A GOOD EXAMPLE?
by minimus inhave you ever had to deal with the thought that you really weren't that good of an example?
perhaps, the congregation was encouraged to pioneer or reach out for bethel service or go to seldom worked territory, etc.
and when you applied, you were told that you didn't qualify.

When I moved to another congregation, one of the brotherss that knew me asked would I mind having a book study at my home. He said talk it over with your wife and get back to me soon. He would ask me evertime he saw me. Then one Sunday I told him it was fine. He then told me that before I could have a Book Study at my home I would need to get my field service time up. Like one has something to do with the other. I went from being a good example to being a bad example in a couple of weeks.
I was good enough to sell those watchtowers but not good enough to have a book study in my home. Maybe it was a good thing. I haven't gone to a book study in months and if it was here at my home I would be there every Tuesday!!!!

"Conscience" - who makes the rules?
by eyeslice inas witnesses, we were frequently counselled to either do or not do things on the basis of not injuring the consciences of others.
to give an example, i used to always grow a beard whilst i was on vacation.
note, i am not particularly hung up on the right to wear a beard, i do not wear one now and i was never too bothered about shaving it off when i returned from vacation.. however, one year i didnt shave the vacation growth off immediately.

One time after a Sunday meeting the wife and I went food shopping. We went home and changed clothes first. At the grocery store we ran into a local elder. He was still in is suit and tie. My wife had changed into a pair of jeans and a short top that showed her belly button and nothing else. The Elder looked at both of us as if we had just killed his mother. It was crazy. Then later that week we got a visit from a good friend. Not an Elder or Servant or anyone like that. Just a sister we were close to. She talked to us about being modest in our dress etc. ect. We knew exactly what was going on.
But I must agree. She would have showed more if she would have had on shorts a top and sandels.

How do I pray?
by DIAMOND inbeing a dub all my life i only know how to pray the dub way.
you know the robotic, saying the samething the sameway using all the dub language and expression.
now that i'm taking matters in my own hands i find that i really don't know how to pray.

In the 70's this was common practice. I remembr the Elders waiting for my little brother to start up. My father was an unbeliever so my mom was at the Hall alone. As soon as my brother started they would grab him up and take him out and do God knows what. And my mom just sat there and let it happen. But to us it was they way it was to be.

Apparently it was over and Elder.(appointed by Jehovah) He flirted with her for a long period of time acted like he was interested in her got her all worked up. She is married he isn't. She started to fall in love knew it was wrong confessed to the Elders. She told the Brother what she did. He told her that was a wrong move and hangs up the phone. She calls and calls and calls he never returns the calls. She tries to OD on pills.
He accepts no responsibility and went to the Memorial with no problem.

I didn't have the heart!

we then brought up the issue with the pedophile priest.
and so we talked about it for a while, and she babbled about how the society would have turned them in and yadda, yadda.

My wife is the same way. While watching Good Morning America one morning they had the whole Catholic Pedofile thing on with the Priest and all that. The Priest is saying he is not guilty of any wrong doing and my wife is yelling at the TV. YOU KNOW YOU DID IT. YOU KNOW YOU ARE GUILTY JUST ADMIT IT!!!! I sat there wondering. What she is going to say when the Dateline story aires. I can't wait.
But I must agree with alot of other people on this site. The average dub will just write it off and make excuses.
