i have gone round and round with my wife about jws and disfellowshipping.
our marriage, which wasn't so hot for the last year, is pretty well shot now.
i try to explain to her that being dfed for simply disagreeing with the wt is offensive to me.
Geez, I thought I was the only one going through this. It sounds as if we are all married to the same women. My wife and I fight so much about the samething. And I like the way everyone has put it...Comfort Zone. Thats exactly what it is.
My wife defends the truth even when she knows its wrong. Her answer to me is. If the Slave Class is telling us wrong information. If the Elders are doing the wrong thing. Then Jehovah will take care of them and we will still be saved. So as you can see there is no talking to this women. I just wish she could see the wrongness of the org.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

during our previous or current stint in the org, we all know that each congregation had a publisher who had a peculiar way of raising his or her hand.. do you remember.... 1)...the 'black power' one?
i know the answer!
4)...the 'yosemite sam' one?
Mr Biggs,
Your sense of humor kills me!! I am definitley number 6. I don't even pretend to rasie my hand anymore. I'm just waiting for the meeting to be over.

many years ago when i first came upon boards like this i wanted to know how to cope with my new status as an exjw.. in particular i was concerned with how to handle my still devout jw wife and three children.. i was given a lot of advice some potentially harmful, like leave your wife but many recommended patience.. that was ten years ago.
over the next decade i allowed my wife to take our children to all the meetings and inculcate them however she wished.
i knew it was a risk but i did not want to appear to be the stereotypical opposing mate and reinforce jw propaganda.. my plan was this:.
Dean,
Your advice sounds great. I'm going through the same thing with my wife and kids now. And I guess you're right patience is the best way. Even though I hate the thought of it taking 10 or more years. I guess 10 years is better than never. So i guess now I'll be the best father and husband that i can be and just keep hoping and praying for the best.
thanks,
Diamond
we have a thread that asks why we became jw's, so i became curious as to why some of us have left.
what was the last straw for you?.
mine was the treatment of my wife.
The breaking point for me was when the Great Milton Henschel gave a talk at our Convention. This man first of all had to sit down for his entire talk. Then he began to stutter and stammer and lose his place. Start talking about one subject and end up with on another one. I even think he fell asleep once. Right then I said to myself...This man and a few more like him are making life and death descisions for me and my family. NO WAY. The next day I started my journey out.
Even though I am slowly fading that was the starting point for me.

You just go ahead and grow a beard. You might give one talk on the Ministry School and that is if your name is already posted on the board. But you better believe that will be your last. All you will be able to do is go out in field service. I'll even bet that if you show up for field service and the only brothers there are you and the conductor, everyone else is sisters. He will conduct read the text and pray. So go ahead and grow that beard.
In the words of Public Enemy...DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!!!
