anyone got plans to attend the memorial?.
i am going again this year.
not out of duty or for anyone else but for myself.
I guess I'm weak. I'm still slow fading. Still go to the meeting twice a month. Still considered a witness so I'm going to the Memorial. Its the only way I can keep from getting a visit and getting DF or DA. I guess its ok to miss some meetings...But if I miss the Memorial all Hell will break loose.

share one of the odder/funnier talks you've heard (where the manuscript went out the window, along with any degree of decorum, preferably).
one time a brother had a 15 minute part and he spoke very calmly and relaxed.
he smiled all the time, but the part seemed aimless.
Once a Elder who was giving the public talk. Said that in the new system we might even live on the moon. Some would live forever on the earth and others might want to live on the moon. We don't know what the conditions are going to be like there in the new system. Jehovah might want us to live everywhere. Now ain't that something all this time I'm being taught about everlasting life on earth and now I've gotta live on the moon. I don't think I'm ready for that.

we've all heard different stories floating around our congregations of different ones(bible studies, or brothers or sisters) having an encounter or 'problems' with demons.

Two brothers go to a door out in service. They knock on the door. A cat comes to the door and says we are not interested. The brothers knock again this time a dog comes to the door and says didn't you hear what the cat said. WE ARE NOT INTERESTED. Then the dog chased the brothers down the street. Now you know I couldn't make that up. It must be true.

so many times in the jw, i saw couples getting married.
but what struck me so often was the difference in age between the man and wife.
often the man was 15-25 years older than the woman.

I have to agree with you 100 percent. My wife and I are 12 years apart. Me being the oldest. When we got married she was 21 I was 33. Everything seemed perfect. Now she is 31 and I am 43, she is not even close to being the same person she was back then. If I met her today I would not EVEN marry her. We have very little in common and just seem to be hanging on because its the right thing to do.
Before I got married a good female friend of mine told me that people make major life changes between 21 and 25. I said yea yea yea. But you don't know my girl. Was she ever right. There is nothing about her thats the same. Looks, attitude,interests, views. Everything is different.
If I was to ever do it again(which I won't). I would marry someone closer to my own age.

our hall has 3 sections of seating, we always sat in the left section all the way in the back if possible heh.
it's funny: it seemed like all the foreign people, immigrants, etc, sat on the right side, all the "goody goods" sat in the middle, and all of the um "shady" people... all the people i would think would become defectors sat on the left.
hehe.
When it was uo to me me I sat on let toward the back. My book study conducter would always tell me to sit in the middle toward the front. That way there would be less distractions. My JW wife loved the middle toward the back.

what do you think happened to her?
for some reason her disappearance is very upsetting to me.
My wifes family lives in Modesto. There is so much information that they get that the general public outside of Modesto don't get. After talking to my mother in law and other family membersits obvious that Scott Peterson either killed his wife or had something to do with her disaperance.(or however you spell the word).
I've been watching this since day one and its only a matter of time before Scott gets his.

i am just wondering.
for those of you who were jehovah's witnesses back in the late 70s and early 80s, did any of you ever destroy your records/lps or cassette tapes after one of those talks at an assembly about 'demonic music', 'backwards masking' and so on?
i remember i had some records destroyed, but i couldn't do it.
Well actually my mother did it for me. She just either threw the album covers away or tore off the questionable art work or pictures. And there was alot of it in the 70's and 80's. P-Funk, Prince, Ohio Players. Anything with OZZY or Black Sabbath. Edgar Winter...because he looked funny.
Mom he's albino. What the hell. There was even a label in the 70's called Buddah. So you know she scratched off all the covers off those. But at least I got to keep the records.
I can remeber being married with children came to visit her with a Prince T-Shirt. Woke up the next morning it was in the trash. I'm a grown ass man dammit. (maybe not)
