since i first saw her perform in the beginning auditions i knew she would come in close or win.
i loved her final performance this evening.

Top Kill on Gulf leak started an hour ago
by restrangled inlets hope this works, but strangely cameras are not showing leaking pipe after about 20 minutes.
i hope nothing has gone wrong and we are left in the dark by bp and the administration as to what is really going on.. .

Our Southern Friends- Are you Pissed about the Oil Spill? I Know I Am ...... !

i mean , they go to all that humungous labor, build a huge box to put over the oil gushing out and wham 5,000 ft. deep it gets clogged with ice crystals.
now they are talking about a couple other alternatives in the news- all the while today haliburton, bp, and other reps are meeting with federal officials getting into a pissing match and fight over who is responsible for the spill ?

You are Ok for now... On the Gulf or Atlantic side? We are looking longer term (maybe a month or two or more before it starts hitting here.) It is still beautiful but probably not for long if they can't plug this leak.

Yes, I have seen that Outlaw.
That dispersant isn't manufatured by an Oil company sub contractor.
So as we post, it still sits in Texas. BP is trying to find a way around purchasing this product so that they can make a profit from a company they already own.
Our government gave them a huge window, to play games.
Everything needed is instantly available (and was by the way), but they need time to A: Mix their own chems, B: avoid the time given, and C:screw the contractors in the United States.
Mark my words.....

I am not happy that the title of this thread has proven true. (Posted 5 days ago)
The volume of oil now admitted by various Government agencies and BP .....is beyond, way beyond the original statements of 5000 barrels per day.
That the chemicals used are way too toxic and never should have been approved by the EPA. (easily looked up way before approval....on line)
I have read on many web sites that the various "solutions" to stop the leak were impossible and that they were "leaked" to stem the tide of anger at BP.
That the Wetlands of Louisinana are now being besieged by "under water plumes"....not containable by miles of orange oil containment balloons despite everyone's best efforts.
That a study done and released from the North Sea on oil blowouts was ignorned from 10 years ago (also available on line) from the very country where one of these businesses originate.
That Fema, the Coast Guard, and MMS.....answer to and swallow anything BP says.
That the United States Government seems to have no control of it's own waters, and let foreign countries come in and rape us of our precious minerals with little to know payment.
That there is typical red tape from some moron picking his or her nose at a desk and not signing off so that berms could have been built 2 weeks ago to save the wetlands now being saturated with chocolate pudding type oil.
Yes our government hard at work,..... the new administration, looking more like the old administration.

I have become disillusioned with any one who is in or wants the position of President. I really like Obama but he seems to have no more of a handle on the various arms of the Government than anyone else did previous to him. There wasn't enough clean up in any agency.
Fema for one. Any 5th grader could look up what BP was spraying into the Gulf and see that it was toxic to humans and wildlife. It's been banned in Europe for years. NOAA, the Coast guard ,MMS, all pussy footing around BP. Why are these people at the head of these agencies at this point in time?
It took public outcry to get the chemicals stopped, video's released, and the notion that there is more than 5000 barrels leaking.....after a full month. Never mind everything else going on.
Does anyone care about doing their job anymore in the Government? It seems to be all grand standing, lies, and slick ability to avoid responsibility, no matter who is in charge.
I don't blame Obama, but those surrounding him I do.

Flipper you have asked about Florida Geography.....
I will attempt as a 20 year resident in the middle of the state to give you my perspective.
I live just outside of Orlando, which means I am about 45 minutes to an hour from any beach I would like to go to on the East Coast. That would include New Smyrna (my favorite), Daytona, Cocoa, etc. I can watch the space shuttle take off from the end of my street. Just the time before last, the skys were dark and clear. It was the most memorable launch I have ever seen. I feel fortunate to have witnessed it. It was breath taking.
When my family really wanted a vacation we headed to the gulf. Fort Myers beach, Sanibel Island, even north of there ...St. Pete and Tampa Bay.
The maximum, we ever drove by car was 4 hours. Can you imagine driving 4 hours and winding up on an exotic beautiful Isle? Well, thats the thrill of living in Florida. We use to leave on a Friday afternoon and be back by Sunday night....feeling as if we had been in a place like Barbados, which we have, only better because it was in the States.
The fresh seafood has always been incredible!
Every day I have Pelicans, Egrets, Storks and Gulls fly over my house, and some stop and land to check out my swimming pool, to name a few out of at least 40 species of birds in high season.
When I was a teenager, my Dad use to pay thousands so that we could vacation on Fort Myer's beach.....here I am with in driving distance.
To think that any of these beaches might be fouled by BP makes me crazy. I have never been to the keys.....but know they are a treasure. I never have to go that far to see beautiful white sand beaches.
I never have to go further than 45 minutes.

don't hold back.....suggest any appetizer, salad, soup, entree, side, dessert......anything and everything is appreciated!.

Mashed potatoes....Man style.
Boil 10 gold potatoes until soft and leave skins on.
Mean while in a Kitchen Aid bowl put in 1/4 cup butter,2/3 cup Marie's blue cheese dressing, 1/4 cup sour cream, and 1/2 cup grated parmesan, with 1 tsp fresh grated black pepper, and 1 tsp. fresh grated sea salt.
Drain Potatoes and add to above...slowly start the Kitchen Aid, the skins will attach to the blades. Blend slowly.... until semi smooth add milk as needed...very little, usually 1/3 cup at the most..skins that stay in are ok. Do not expect perfection, a little chunky is ok. Taste for salt and pepper, add more if needed. Top with 2 T butter., a little paprika and cover with foil.
They can stay in a warm oven for a maximum of 1/2 hour while you finish other dishes. (Temp 180 max)
These are my famous mashed potatoes and I usually have to make double when my guys hear I'm making them...I never have left overs.
