  don't get all excited...i don't mean lastnight.

  spankings were a regular occurence in my family, and don't think that was uncommon for born-in jws.

  my parents loved the line "we spank you because we love you.

  It's up to a parent to determine what works best, and do that, I think.

  Just because you can reproduce, doesn't mean you know diddly about child care.

  Only SOME parents know whats best for their child.

  this is probably the stupidest thing to ever be wriiten on here, but i need to just talk/type it out.. my cat got run over last night & killed, i am a complete mess.

  my hubby has gone away with work today for a few days today so im on my own & i cant cope.

  i know loads of you will think, it was just a cat get over it, but dam i hurt so much.

  I had my old cat Puss Puss for 18 years. I lived with her longer than anyone else, including my parents. She was very sick, and it took everything I had in me to let her go.

  I know how your feel, two days ago I had to put down my elderly kitty too. I lost my oldest friend.

  If you were raised JW, im sure the importance of pets was greatly downplayed while you were growing up.

  I remember assembly parts where we were reminded that pets steal our time away from the service and should real christian take on that un-necesary obligation?

  I also remember an Awake article about dogs that was obviously written by someone who disliked them.

  Of course all that comes from people who do not respect their own fellow human, much less animals.

  Its been shown statistically that pet owners live longer then non-pet owners.

  Thats how wonderful our animal friends are, they not only enhance our lives, but they also prolong it.

  If you want to see how incredibly beautiful she was watch "Butterfield 8"

  If you want to see what a great actor she was, watch "whos afraid of Virginia Wolfe"

  If you can ever get a clear picture of her eyes, they are unbelievable, you would swear they were tinted contacts, but they didn't have those then.

  What Time were your Meeting Times?

  i read some postings here earlier where some were saying they had never heard of meetings staring at 7pm.

  i may have misunderstood.. were/are there different start times elsewhere?

  our times in uk were.

  I just remembered, once in my old hall there was a big disagreement over wether Sunday meeting should start in the morning or afternoon. Even the elder body were devided right down the middle. So they decided they were going to put it to vote at the next meeting.

  I wanted it to be in the afternoon, my JW ex wanted a morning meeting and told me so. When it came time to vote, I voted afternoon, he voted morning. And the afternoon won by ONE vote!

  Hubby was furious at me that I did not vote his way. Now he never once told me to vote his way, and honestly, I was sheeplike enough to obey him, he just assumed that once he voiced his opinion, I would acquesce.

  I beat myself up over that for a long time, I felt I was a horrible wife because of it. I was very ashamed of my actions especially becasue I did it right in front of the whole congregation.

  Its hard to believe what a door mat I was. If that were to happen now, I would do a happy dance in front of my current hubby and he would graciously accept his loss.

  Evening meetings started at 7:30, that means the kids dont get to bed till about 10:30 on a school night.

  Once again proving, the GB dont give a shit about kids

  I was born in, fourth generation.

  I started a study with a man out in service once, when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I turned it over to an adult brother and the man and his wife both converted whithen a few months, they also had 4 young children that got to be dragged into a cult.

  I have also learned that one of the girls I went to highschool with converted. I dont really remember her, but when she was introduced to me at a witness gathering years later, she told me she became a witness because of the fine example i set in highschool.

  I went DtoD for about 28 years.

  Where is that "Hidden HOOK"?

  a number of years ago i started doing something i had never done before.. i started questioning the basic premise of things which cause arguments.. why?.

  long running controversy usually contains a hidden premise both sides buy into without knowing it.. by backing up one whole step and questioning the basis for the hidden premise the problem quickly goes away.. .

  it looks yummy.

  the bible only came in to existence for the benefit of believers, the Christians were around for centuries by the time it was cobbled together, they did not believe because of a book.
