These stories are allmost unbelievable,
then I remember were talking about the JWs,
then its all believable again.
going along with the last thread ( great subject matter) .
i'm sort of hitching along here.. we had a bookstudy at our home for several years, every week we were prepared, and we handled service arraingements every saturday morning, even with two young children.. one saturday morning, ( in the middle of winter) one son had a bad cold, and our furnace konked out around 8:15 am.. i was running around trying to get ready for service, calling a repair man, and help my wife get ready for service.. the group comes in at 9:00, and i'm on the phone talking to the repair man who wants to come out between 10-2.. so i'm not going out this morning, and i'm staying home with my sick son, wife and son #2 are going out in service.. conductor comes downstairs and looks at the furnace ( he is a school teacher, no mechanical experience at all, check out my earlier thread video under friends, page 5827 titled "elder makes a video,,,, this is the same guy ) and gives me the classic guilt trip because i'm not going out in service for at least an hour this morning.. i remember thinking just who is this guy, trying to make me feel bad because my family is #1, service is not my focus today.. after all of these years, i cannot help but think of this comment now :.
"nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent", e. roosevelt.

why can't people in jw congregations see just how utterly creepy this whole arrangement is?.
a girl about 20 years old commits an indescretion of a sexual nature.
three middle aged/old men 'interview' her in a room.
Three adult males asking sexually explicit questions to a lone underage child is nothing short of sexual abuse.
The real world would be appalled at such behavior.
Can you imagine what would happen if a raped woman went to the police and they questioned her by putting her alone in a room with three men?
The public would be outraged! Any fool can tell you that is not an appropriate way to treat a victim.
But in JW land it is accepted....the GB are sick heartless bastards who dont geve a shit about women or children.
i'm smiling as i write this.
i've just read my post three years ago, titled "i left.
" i wrote that two days after i had packed up my house and flown 2000 miles away to sydney with my little boy.
Im happy for you HotChocolate.
I love hearing stories like that.
today while i was working i remembered a wt on there having to be two witness to a person who comes forward later in life saying he had been molested as a chld and i was thinking no it really could not have been to blatant like i remembered it.
sadly i did find it and no i remembered it right.
it to me is sick!
Stand Firm....... the watchtower claims what you said. and they have also claimed, in writing, that two unrelated accusations will not suffice.
But this is a silly point to argue, because either way, it is a completely unaceptible way of dealing with the issue.
i used to be the wt study conductor back in the 1970s.
the way i remember it, we asked the question first, got several comments, and then read the paragraph.
if we were running long on the hour time, i would sometimes just read the last few paragraphs.. something i read here made me think that this had been reveresed - i.e.
Blondie, thats a surprise that they made that change as early as 77.
I guesstimated it being in the early 80's.
But yes. it dumbed down the lesson even more. So we were suppose to "study" the material at a prior time, and then go over it in detail at the meeting. it was nothing more then busy work. All cults know that they have to keep their members as busy as possible, no matter how pointless the task.
Its also a great way of making dull, inane, boring material seem as though its something really really deep and meaningful.

We were taught all our lives to go to the elders and only the elders when we needed help.
We were also taught that remaining morally clean was of utmost importance.
Its quite a shock to go to the elders because a family member is assaulting you, only to be told "its his word against yours. theres nothing we can do about it" and "do not talk about this to anyone else, as that would bring shame on jahs name"
One of the worst times of my life was after the elders told me this, I had to get in the car with the man that assaulted me, and ride back home with him.
The three elders did not give a shit, not one of them ever checked up on me or inquired if i was OK. The JC was over and there was nothing they could do so case closed, nothing more to be done. All three of them were fathers, two of them were grandfathers.
How how how does an adult human, shepard of the flock, behave that way? To this day it boggles my mind.
since i am not yet fully out.....i was at the dc.
the drama was just awful.
for anyone else that saw it....i need your opinion.
Another drama written by elderly virgins who have lived completely sheltered institutionalized lives.
Yeah, thats where i should get my parental advice from...
many of you are collectors of the older literature especially.
i have been involved for 50 years with wtb&ts and have 4 generations prior to me involved.
i started collecting the literature and releases log ago and always viewed it as a hobby.
The society often tells the members to destroy old lit, old blood cards, etc.
To me, this speaks volumns.
I collect the old lit too, it needs to be saved.
that question has been asked to me countless times ever since i can remember.
(the gay part, haha.
) reluctantly, i would quickly put an end to their thinkg with a swift, "no".. four days ago, after a couple of very strenuous months (years if you count the time i didn't except myself), i came out to my cousin (roommate).
the first hall i attended as a study was built in the 1960s.
it was basically an orange brick box with aluminium framed windows.
there was no air-conditioning and it heated up like an oven in summer.
I remember an assembly hall that was newly built with the latest new low flow toilets.
Remember the low-flows? They were suppose to conserve water, but they worked about as well as a partially clogged toilet, one that flushes a little but never completely.
By lunch time that assembly hall stank like a sewer, it was truely awful. By the end of the day every toilet there looked like the last three people hadn't bothered to flush, when in fact people would flush over and over again, and then just give up. To clean the toilets they had to haul buckets of water to pour in the bowl to get them to flush completely.
Brand new assembly hall.
