Glander, I am not being an ignoramous.
I am not saying that the clip is torturing the cat, but it is a way of controling the cat.
What happens when assholes put that on a cat to see what heppens and then does not take it off?
That technique can be used to subdue a terrified cat to give it needed medical care or to torture it.

There was an article in the awake! in the 70's about dogs. The Society didnt have anything good to say about them. Three pages of anti-dog preaching.
I was a little kid at the time, but i remember it clearly because I got one of the worst beatings of my life over that damn article. Stepdad demanded that I read it, and I did, but he did not believe me. And he really wanted to impresss upon me the societys opinion of dogs.
There was also a number of times at assemblies where they would disparagh any kind of pets. That cute little kitty is a thief stealing your time from Jehovah.

JW's who remain in the organisation but try to reform it - pissing against the wind
by jambon1 ini came across a website that presents decent argumentation against three main areas of jw doctrine.. http://jwreform.org/index.html.
who do these people think they are?
do they really believe that the wts will sit up and take notice of their objections?

If the society goes a little more mainstream, they will survive and flourish just fine.
They will soon stop talking about the blood issue, they will just drop it, then that whole thing will die out on its own.
Shunning is bad for business, they will eventually see that and let that go too.
if they drop those two issues and then lighten up on a few more, then they are just another christian religion.
And then they will survive just fine.
The above posters are right, if you read up on how religions are born and progress or die it follows the same pattern.
Some schism breaks off from the main church, they claim themsleves to be the "true religion" and they have very strick rules. Most of these break off religions die out on there own or never progress anywhere.
A very small minority manage to survive, they get bigger and bigger, but they finally get to the point that the only way they can grow any bigger is to be softer and gentler so that they can attract a larger portion of the population. When they are small the attract the more extreme minority of the population, but once they have saturated that market, they have to go mainstream to grow/survive.
IMO, the society will be forced into softening up, or die.

JW's And The Abuse Of Children...
by shel54401 inthrough out my 10yrs.
of being involved w/ the organization i have witnessed a many pyhsical abuse.and i even have been to a many different halls, in which i saw the same abuse on children.the last thing that had made me leave was a case of childabuse, in which no elders nor any one did anything to help these poor children, so i reported them and the children were taken from the home that day, the husband went to jail then prision for a probation violation by hurting the children.the little one of age 5 was punched in the face, then kicked down a flight of stairs..this was it for me, after reporting this, i left the organization and never looked back..how sad, when people just stood by and watched this happen, even an elder's wife, and no one did anything to help these poor children.and the beatings i witnessed in the bathrooms was just awful.after my research of this dangerous cult, and then the beatings of the children was enough for me to take my 5 year old daughter and myself out of this dangerous organization and never look back.
yes, we lost a many frineds, but i still keep in contact w/ some of my jw"s friends who sneek over at times to visit me..i sure pray that god will helo them escape this dangerous organization before its too late..

We had a hard core CO come around one time that was seriously into disipline.
His Sunday talk was about not sparing the rod and in his book that meant whippings. He gave the example of how whenever he disobeyed his father it ALWAYS resulted in a whipping.
When he was 11 years old he was playing ball in the street and got hit by a car. His injuries was such that he spent 2 weeks in the hospital. Then with great pride and emphasis he said "Do you know what was the first thing my dad did when i got home from the hospital? (shouting at this point and stabbing the air) He gave me a whipping I would never forget! Because he had told me not to play in the street!
At this point the CO was about foaming at the mouth, he REALLY believed in spanking your kids.
It simply inraged me, he never once cautioned about spanking too hard, and i have never heard any other bro give that caution either from the stage.
The JWs are all pro spankings......with no rules

"They have people in China, don't worry"
by sabastious ini had an argument with my mother over the phone because she was trying to tell me that the witnesses preach the entire world.
i asked about china and it stumped her.
several days later we were talking (arguing) on the phone again and she told me that "she asked an elder and they said the reason that china is not in the annual report is because it's all underground there.".

The religion originated here in the states and most people know practically nothing about the witnesses.
How can an "underground" be anywhere remotely as effective/noneffective?
The idea that the "preaching work" is near finished is just plain insane.
Most of the world knows nothing about the JWs.

In response to Standfirm's comment about the two witness rule.
by life is to short instandfirm told me thatl.
ife is to short,.
the jw organization says that two witnesses to separate acts of wrongdoing are acceptable for someone to be df'ed.. "if there is another witness to the same type of sin on the part of the accused, this would be basis for forming a judicial committee.

Jaycee did not have two witness to her crime, yet the police believed her? If she had, had to have went to the elders instead of the police first she would still be in the backyard.
yes, for one moment, lets assume that this case was handled by the elders.
Garrido confessed and said he was sorry for his actions, that means the elders might see him as repentant and leave it at that or they may DF him. Jaycee of course, would have to sit alone in front of a panel of three men all asking about every detail of her abuse. The elders would then decide if she was repentant and they may or may not df her for immorality.
The elders would not have reported this case to the police, unless the local laws require them to.
LITS is right, if the elders had handled this case, Jaycee would still be in that backyard and she would likely be DF too. In the mean time, the worst that would happen to Garrido would be getting DFed.
I base my assumption that Jaycee would be DF because I have seen no sign whatsoever of her "repentance" while Garrido has been very repentant.
Among other things the elders would ask Jaycee
"did you enjoy it"
"did you orgasm"
"did you scream"
"why didnt you leave"
"why didnt you ask someone to help you"
All these questions would help them determine her level of guilt, and whether she was repentant or not.

OTWo said
"When they come forward, all these cases should be turned over to people outside of JW's who are trained to handle them."Standfirms reply was
What if nobody wants to? Should the Witnesses override the person's free will? Leaving it up to the family what to do is the best way.
Standfirm, it is usually someone in the family that is the abuser. So if the abuser is the dad, and he doesn't want to report it, then he shouldn't have to?
Standfirm you also seem to be confused about sins, child abuse is not a sin, nowhere in the bible does it say it is a sin.
Child abuse is a CRIME and should be reported every time!

Standfirm does not know what he is talking about, he stated.
Even if the person was somehow considered repentant, child abuse always means that a public reproof is given with a warning talk on the same subject, thus all will know what the person did.
Prove it standfirm, show me where the society says that it will publicly reprove a child abuser.
And also please explain how a public announcement is an appropriate way of dealing with someone who has raped a child?
Your saying that when jaycee Dugard was rescued from the Garridos. A public announcment warning people of the Garridos would be an appropriate way of handling the issue? But other then that, nothing more needs to be done?
