i have some old notes from a 1981 circuit assembly.

brother frank bartell was the district overseer.

i am pretty sure its 1981 or 1982.. anyway, in his last talk he said that there was a terrible situation in cleveland ohio the previous year (1980).

after being away for 3 years i have agreed to attend some meetings with my wife who is suffering depression.

she has no friends except witnesses.

every meeting i get pats.......pats on the back during the damn meeting, elders and servants patting me on the back, mouthing "hello" giving me the thumbs up.....the last elder who did it, i almost stood up and punched him....i invented love bombing and they dare use it on me...me!

My Ex-husband and I were born-in JW's.

He exited the org about three months before I did.

And when he left i got love-bombed by the congo.

I'd been a JW my intire life and been mostly ignored, but suddenly, now that they were afraid of losing me, everyone was fauning over my every word.

It disgusted me, after that I couldn't leave fast enough.

in this public edition of the watchtower it uses an illustration of a piece of furniture to help explain why jehovah tolerated polygamy.. but the more interesting point i thought was the reasoning in the first paragraph in the second column about jehovah warning his people when they strayed from his standards.

it says "however, he knew in advance that his people would often fail to obey even the most basic of commands, such as the one against idolatry.

(exodus 32:9).

There is just so many problems with this line of reasoning, where do I start?

Well for one, I love the part where it says that polygamy was good because it helped the nation of israel to grow more rapidly.

Well, it would only grow more rapidly when the chosen ones went out and slaughtered other tribes and stole their young gilrs to take home and impregnate, otherwise polygamy doesn't cause a populance to grow more rapidly. It just leaves some men without wives.

So polygamy plus genocide equals faster growth for the tribe.

Also love the bit about how it was a protection for some women. WTF!! This is how the allmighty soveriegn of the universe protects women?

This whole article makes Jehovah sound like a pimp

i lived for the first 20 years of my life in a communist country.. .

great .... .

we were told we lived in the best regime, had best medical care, best election system, best goverment, no criminality like in the western countries, no unemploymence like in the western countries, not all the problems like people in the west ..... .

I remember years ago an experience we heard at the assembly.

Russion bro moved with his wife and kids to America so that they could have a better life. Soon the wife and kids were getting involved in all kinds of worldly activities and he could see that they were devoting less and less of their lives to the troof. So what did he do? He packed them all back up and moved them back to Russia!

At the time, even as a true believer, I thought this story was a lot of malarky. But now I can see that it could very well be true.

It takes bigger balls to leave the cage then it takes to stay in the cage.

7 years my son was spiritualy educated as a future jw... my wife still is a faithful witness, so i cannot tell him straight "wtbs is a bunch of liars and hypocrites ...." he would be confused and would go to mom to ask if its right.... so i started explaining him indirectly, leting him to got to the conclusion himself.
