I find what helped in the first few weeks was to drink alot of pop, mainly lemonade. I drink it out of a pint glass, just as if i was at home drinking a pint of lager. It's the psychological thing of drinking out of a pint glass.
Paul
figured i'd do a topic for it.
i'm trying to quit for at least a month - just found i was drinking a bit to much with all the stress.... anyways, its been 10 days since i last had a drink.. how long has it been for you?
how long are you trying to go without drinking?.

Something sticks with me that i have heard, is that its easy not to drink, you just don't pick up that first glass. It's as simple as that. The hard thing to do is to deal with all the crap while your not drinking.
There was a time when i would drink every night and for years. Once i decided to do something about it, it was so unusual to wake up without a hangover, it's a great feeling, i thought wow i want more of this.
I'm off to bed in a bit and i know i will wake up with that feeling. That's one thing i hold dear now.

.
i'll post more as i get it but according to the 'mail on sunday' this serial killing monster has "become one of jehovah's witnesses".. sick.. .
see http://www.execulink.com/~kbrannen/

It says here that he's been a witness since 1999!
I wonder why that has never been advertised by the WBTS. Can you imagine him on the platform giving his experience?

You may find this site useful, depends on how much of a problem your drinking can be

Good for you cognac.
I have posted here at length about my alcohol issues.
In January i decided to go a month too. The problem with setting targets like that is that when you do that month, what is going to happen then? It really depends on what you want.
It's good that you have the desire to go a month without a drink, but i am just saying be careful after that month period if you do not want to go back to drinking like previously.
I went 7 weeks, then drank over a weekend, then another 7 weeks till my birthday. Since my birthday i have drank maybe on two occasions. But now haven't had a drink for a week.
I feel its better to say that your not going to drink today and repeat the same process tomorrow, rather than set a monthly target. If that works for you that's good, but what i have said preferring daily targets works for me.

i enjoy this board so much that it is distracting me from what i really need to do.. it seems like no matter how hard i try to sign on for a "couple minutes" it ends up turning into hours (because i like hanging out with you guys).. so, i am going to take a break for a while.....should be back on sometime in june.. cheers,.
alex.
See you soon...i enjoy reading your posts, always thought you were an intelligent guy.
I know the feeling when you only intend to come on here for a couple of minutes.

so most of you have probably seen my youtube video what you should know about jehovah's witnesses, which can be found here.
naturally, this draws quite a negative response from the jw community, but this particular person decided to send me a personal message.. you wanna talk smack about witnesses or anyone in general you better have your facts straight.
everything you said is taken almost enitrly out of context to our true practices.
I have just had a look at your Youtube clip. Its very good.
This guy really doesn't know what he is talking about, he probably is young.
But can i ask do you still go the meetings? It seems from what you posted him that you do. If that's the case he does have a point when he brings that up.

i am a catholic who was recently visited by a jehovah's witness who had some things to say which i had never known about.
this got me to thinking, and so i am now curious about the full teachings of the wts in this regard.
basically i was informed that witnesses cannot vote nor serve in the military, or even fly a flag.
Hi Patrick, here in the UK JW's can become policemen but it is frowned upon by the rank and file JW's. I guess they are not allowed in the US because of bearing arms. Your right when you say that there is hypocrisy within the religion.
On this site many of us have left the JW's and certainly all of us have problems with the way we were taught. You would do well to put these questions to an active Jehovahs Witness when they next come knocking your door and see what they say.

i'm sorry to aggrivate you about my life choices all of the time.
you guys just always give the best advice.
you understand and don't look down on me for being a little behind in my career due to being a jw until i was 23.. so i'm like the rest of you with a high school diploma only because of that stupid religion.
I wouldn't have thought that real estate would be a wise move the way the market is in your country at the moment.

many theists believe that atheists have no morality at all.
they argue that because atheists dont believe in the laws, limitations and boundaries that god has set up for us, there's nothing stopping them from becoming violent, lying thieving sociopaths.
there have been many stories of people who have "found god" and changed their life, giving up drugs, repenting for past crimes.
Very good question. When i first saw the thread i thought, "here we go".
Maybe it's instinct to have morals, i don't know. But the religious are not the only ones who are entitled to call themselves good.
