"If one was born here one can still speak like the Queen if one so wishes, clipped or cut-glass English as it is known, but most of us speak with a neutral sounding ,hard to place accent.
The thing that saddens me is the loss of regional accents due to the damn T.V everybody sounds the same in a lot of the U.K and they are following the bad speech of cheap soap operas,....... damn I sound pretentious, pretentious moi?"

The whole concept of Americans speaking American English instead of what you call British English amazes me! Whatever happened to the Queen's English?

It depends on what you're doing.
I do law with London University on a distance degree. I chose this as London is one of the top, if not the top Law school in the UK, they also provide a distance degree, using both online and study materials.
Personally i think it would be wise to assess what traditional schools offer your choice of degree and then see if they offer the course externally on a distance program. That way you get the best of both worlds, an online degree, recognised by a traditional university.

....in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness. ~ President Obama

Be still like a mountain and flow like a great river. ~ Lao Tse.
Without going out of your door, You can know the ways of the world. Without peeping through your window, you can see the Way of Heaven. The farther you go, The less you know. ~Lao Tse
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. ~Jesus Christ/Matthew 6:34
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. ~Jesus Christ/Matthew 7:12
If those who lead you say 'God's Kingdom's in heaven,' then the birds will fly there first. If they say 'it's in the sea,' then the fish will swim there first. For God's kingdom dwells in your heart and all around you; when you know your Self you too shall be known! ~Jesus Christ, Gospel of Thomas

Inner peace is the key: if you have inner peace, the external problems do not affect your deep sense of peace and tranquility ~ Dahli Lama

someone told me yesterday that she had studied with witnesses "up to chapter 3"...whatever that means.. she said that a man and woman came to her house one day after she had been studying and that the woman put on a head covering or veil when they started the study.
she asked the woman why she did that and the woman replied they do that when in presence of a brother.. i think she must have got jws mixed up with some other group...i just never heard of the veil thing before.. is this a jw practice?.
.
I remember being about 13, unbaptised, and my mother's friend a sister, wore a hat whilst saying a prayer for a field service arrangement. There was confusion as to whether i should say the prayer. Because it was a congregation arrangement and there was no baptised brothers there, apparently she had to wear one because she was taking the place of a brother.

divorce is hard for everyone, unless the person is just jumping for joy to get out it.....but even then it can be rough....and you lose half your assets.....some people stay in bad marriages just because they can not afford to be divorced........ but esp if you are a born in jw.....you know what is so unfair compared to normal non-jw divorces????
?....what is so fukkin unfair?!?
!.......that you lose all your friends and family!!!!
If you are the one instigating the divorce it can be deadly.
I left my ex wife 11 years ago. Everyone who i grew up with looked down upon me with judgement. Nobody knew what went on between us and my reasons for leaving, the crux of it was i felt suicidal and leaving her was such a weight lifted off my shoulders. But her family is a big JW family, so they made sure i looked the bad boy. Mad thing is they did the same with my sister in law too, who left my ex's brother around the same time. Rumours went around that both of us were seeing other people and having affairs, all lies. But what can you do when stories like that get circulated. Stories went around that i never seen my children, again lies i had them every weekend. Stories went around that i didn't financially support them, lies. They did everything to paint me as the bad guy, yet what nobody knew was that my ex wife was an extremely angry and abusive woman.
Within the JW community divorce is looked down upon, it's not meant to happen. So if you're the one instigating it, it's a long road, or it was for me. It was worth it though, in my opinion it's wrong to live a life that just doesn't make either of you happy. My ex is on her third now, she's happy, probably happier than when we were first together, so i am pleased for her. I too am in a happy place, so in the long run it did work out, i wouldn't want to go back to the sort of relationship i had with her.

i have always wondered what exactly is in the koran, apparently it's written in poetry.. obviously there is a lot of negativity towards the koran from the west, yet many practices that are condemned are not found in the koran, for example women wearing the hijab.. so now that we can read what we want without being told what we can and can't have in our library i thought i'd order a few books.
i just received the gnostic gospels, i have ordered some buddhist transcripts, the book of mormon and the koran from amazon.. ....and why not???

Isn't it mad how the WT says that these books will allow demons into your house?
