Is what all it takes?
What does the fact that I respect a statement whereby they admit they were wrong in the past mean to you?
he's asking if i've read the first page of the new watchtower.. says page 8 admits and exposes the society's mistaken expectations.. says that both mags have been adjusted to reflect the understanding of generation.
asking if it is my position that witnesses have made claims to be inspired prophets.... and saying if it is, maybe *we* can consider together some examples in the bible of others who have had wrong expectations and have gone ahead of god's timetable and see how god handled that..

Just read it. I actually respect the fact they have written that.

Which Watchtower admits this? I haven't been around here for a while so missed something.
our friend, oompa, has passed away.
just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.
I've just googled him. Don't come on here anymore really and deleted all the ex jws from my facebook a couple of years ago (for my own sanity), so this is news to me.
Eric had some kind words for me when I was battling my demons with alcohol and ex jw related ones, we spoke on a number of occasions about alcoholism. He seemed torn with the JW issues, but always would appear upbeat and I always thought one day he would get through it all and come out stronger the other side. Then of course was his accident which must have been devastating, but I always thought he'd pull through.
It's always so sad to see these things. This guy had a big heart and underneath those demons he struggled with was a good man, anyone could see that.
I feel so sad, it's such a waste.

Very sad. RIP Eric
a really good exercise to unblock you in creative writing is to try organic writing.. what is it?.
no planning in advance.
no notes.
Thaks for the comment about nanowrimo JeffT, been looking at it and think i may give it a go!
i was 25 years a congregation member; ten years an elder; all told, up to 18 years an appointed man; a decade or so as a full-time minister; assembly speaker, with the pinnacle giving the public discourse at a district convention.. .
i stopped being an active member of the congregation in november 2010, but it had been brewing for several years, with the customary gradual drifting away - all the necessary mental gymnastics as my spiritual views changed and doubts set in; quitting the theocratic ministry school; ceasing to answer; sitting quietly off to the side.
i think the straw that broke the camels back was when family worship inevitably became family worship.
Great blog, sent you a pm.
all spritiual views welcome.
i'd also like to know if the bible presents death as a transition and if it does so more than presenting it as a complete end..
No, it's the end of the road.

Thanks Cantleave.
I may hang around a bit wha happened, but find that exploring JW issues now just brings back the bad stuff as very much moved on. Still like to browse here occasionally though.
