How Well Do You Know The Bible?
by dark clouds ini want to share a perspective, with everyone that comes here to read, for i feel it will take some of us in a new direction.
perhaps it will allow for some creative thinking and interesting discussion or maybe it simply wont go anywhere.
it does not really matter either way, for there are subjects which can only be speculated on and thoughts which can only be shared.

Although i do feel that this is the way to go. But something that i've read about buddhism, which appeals to me is that if we accept we're going to die we will make the most out of our short lives. If this is the case then do we need to worry about getting closer to the truth?

u misunderstand me... the point i'm trying to make is that if we pull different points out of different religions, are we just pulling out those ideas we feel comfortable with and getting no closer to the truth?

u have some valid points...we all fall into the trap of being content with the comfortable.Dark Clouds
May be by pulling ideas off these enlightened men, all we are doing is forming our own opinion that we are comfortable with...instead of searching for the truth.Yours Paul

I am materialistic
by expatbrit inlast week i had a phone conversation with my family back in england.
my parents had figured out that something wasn't usual about my attitude to the "truth", so they started grilling me: have i been to meetings?
going in field service?

Expat,
I'm also in a similar situation, in that i'm a self employed guy, with a growing business.
However, this is only down to sheer hard work...working twelve hours a day, seven days a week until recently.
How dare anyone say that this is materialistic...i do not rely on others, do not not rely on the state, and now am in the position to offer others work.
You go!!! you only have one life...

However, i feel that all of these 'enlightened ones' that u mention, all have something to contribute.
All have their own interpretation on how to get close to this supreme being. We can learn from all of these.
Yet also at the smae time i feel that no one has the truth. No one has the truth that we all yearn for. Is it worth our time dwelling on it??? Does it really matter??? .... i know it bothers me or i wouldn't have even mentioned it, but should it bother me???
I think it is up to us to learn from these people and others and come to a conclusion that each individual feels comfortable with.

my personal opinion - nostradamus was no prophet, i read somewhere that only 7% of his prophecies came true...and of these, they were prophecies that were re-interpretated after the event. He spoke in riddles... open to interpretation. Wasn't it interpretated that he said the end of the world would come in 1997( or thereabouts)???

Is therapy the answer?
by ShaunaC ini just finished reading the thread started by seven regarding therapy.
i saw that many of you have gone to counseling as well.
still others are cautious about it.

Hi shauna,
Therapy can be good, makes you come to a decision of what u want through talking to others.
Sometimes talking to a total stranger, who has no preconceptions about you, no stance on how he/she views you,can be good.
Whether we talk to a therapist or not, all of us gain therapy through talking to friends, through talking on here, through talking to close relatives or just by going out clubbing and letting our hair down.
Time is the greatest healer, then life itself becomes the greatest therapy one can experience.
As for me i was married, self esteem can be knocked down for men too u know. I don't know your situation, but for me the best way to overcome a failed marriage is to have goals in life and something to focus upon. We're only here for a short while and have to make the most from it so be strong, look to the future...your future.
Seven- love the peom, i'm going to print it out and save it
