Should WOMEN Serve in Combat???
by JT infor anyone who knows me, i have always been a very strong support for women's right to do as they please in life, but today we had a very interesting discussion about this issue>.
this is to me one area where i wonder is it really the best thing to do, not so much because of how we in the west perhaps view women in positions and power, but how women are often times viewed by those that we maybe at war with.
culturally as men we have been conditioned to protect the woman- in fact in almost all cultures that i can think of that basic mindset is held by most men i would dare say-.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but in the British army women are not allowed on the front line. I know this was definately the case a couple of years ago and i think it still is.
The argument was that it would distract the men from their concentration.

BBC transmit evidence of Isreali use of Nerve Gas
by Pleasuredome inat 11:20 pm on monday 17th march 2003 bbc2 transmitted olenka frenkiel's tv documentary 'isreal's secret weapon' about mordechai vanunu who has spent 11 years in solitary confinement for revealing isreals advanced nuclear weapons programme to the world.
but in the documentary we saw pictures of hospitalised palestinians convulsing and twitching wildly after being subject to a mystery gas sprayed at themon the streets by the idf.
the uncontrollable convulsions are a hideous but sure sign of the use of nerve gas in the occupied territories.

Human rights abuses against the Palestinians, by Israeli forces have been well documented over the years. These cases are not publicly condemned by US/Uk politicians for fear of a backlash from the Jewish populations. Because of the holocaust many politicians do not want to act against the state of Israel for fear of being labelled anti-semetic.
It seems a shame that Bush and Blair are not outspoken against ALL human rights abuses, this inevitably leaves them open ti the charge of having double standards.

What is the worst thing about leaving?
by sleepy in.
everyone probably has a slightly different experience when leaving the witnesses.the worst aspect about this for me is the realisation that my enteire life has been lived and directed by a false premiss, and the effect past decisions now have on my life.. it can make me feel sick in the stomach on occation.. also the idea that friends and family think i have tuned bad or evil to have left jehovah is qute disturbing at times.

Hiya sleepy,
I agree with you that when you realise that your entire life has been based on falsehood it does make you sick in the stomach. This is probably one of the worst things about leaving for me, yet also it is one of the best things.
When you realise that you have been fed with false information, it opens your eyes and makes you form your own opinions based upon your own research. In my opinion this makes you a better person, never again will you allow anyone else to tell you how to act and what to believe.

Serving Satan to the best of our ability
by TR inthose of us who completely deny the wts way of life and beliefs are thought of as serving 'satan'.
what self-respecting jw would deny this?
anything under the sun that doesn't coincide with wt doctrine would be considered 'satanic' by jws.. there exists a long list of satanic activities we can be engaged in.
