i have posted on here previously about my problems with alcoholism and the fact that i have attended aa meetings so i thought i would start a thread to post where i am at now.. i first attended at the beginning of january and went 7 weeks without a drink, i then had a weekend away and got drunk.
i then went another 7 weeks until my birthday (april 19).
since then i have felt that i could control my drinking within the confines of a local program.. this however hasn't really worked for me, i find that i do not really enjoy going out drinking and trying to pace myself.

This however hasn't really worked for me, i find that i do not really enjoy going out drinking and trying to pace myself. I always have ended up drunk and cannot stop at just one or two. If i do stop at one or two i find that i for the rest of the night thinking about another drink.
With this in mind i have decided to attend AA again and go to a meeting tomorrow night, i think abstinence is the only forward for me. I went out on Friday night for a friends birthday with the intention of only having a few, but ended up spending the weekend recovering.
The fact of the matter is, is that i was at my happiest not drinking for those two periods of 7 weeks. I had a peace of mind, i had future plans and was generally in a happy frame of mind. In controlled drinking these things have gone and i know i can get them back through abstinence. I would like to thank all here who have PM'd and replied to my AA threads, but in particular to those who are in AA themselves as you can see that this is the way forward.
I do not regret attempting to control my drinking as i feel that this is something that i have needed to do if only to prove to myself that i can't do it. I hope that last Friday will be my last drink, however i know that this is a long journey. Someone said to me once that their life seems to go fast, but life of sobriety goe's at a slower rate, bit of a weird one but i can see it.

Looks like an interesting guy LZ.
I know that atheism is the logical and reasonable way to go but as i have said i see intelligent design everywhere i look. I cannot accept that all of this came by chance, but at the same time does this mean i have to worship a creator? And does it mean it's the God of the bible?

I can see the logic and reasoning in all of those quotes, yet why am i still not an atheist?
When i look at the marvels of this earth i see intelligent design. For this reason i wrestle with the atheist argument.

Excellent link, explaining logical reasons why someone should be an atheist.
My favourite is the very first one, " Surely you do not believe in the gods? What's your argument? Where's your proof? ". Placing the need for evidence and proof direct into the theist's lap.

come on, i know you're out there.
we have kh's here, so there's gotta be a few ex-dubs from the nt lurking here...
I wish i was in Australia, i would be if wasn't for my kids.
I never forget talking to someone who had emigrated there and had come back to visit family. I was 19 at the time and he was trying to persuade me to go for it. I always remember him saying your only 19 you could make a great life out there, anyway i didn't and i am still in sunny uk

you all jehovah witnesses that said jesus didn't die on a cross but on a stake your wrong because the romans were pagans and what better way to crucify someone than on a pagan symbol.
i have a fact that you need to listen to as well, the watchtower which you symbolize is a pagan symbol as well.
oh no how can that be you ask, well let me tell you.. in ceremonial magic and some traditions of wicca and neopaganism, the four cardinal points are believed to have spiritual guardians called watchtowers.

I get annoyed when people come here to start preaching at us.
Yes you have researched well, yet many here are not Jehovah's Witnesses but have left and are coming to terms with life as it is now. If anyone wants to start preaching at us telling us that we are wrong, then they should really bear in mind the make up of the people on this site.

does anyone know if the wts' lawyers are witnesses who work (volunteer for free) in bethel?
or are they non-witnesses lawyers who charge the wts for their legal service?
if the latter is the case, then, isn't the wts stealing from the dubs.
I know years ago they used to look for any professional from the r & f. There was an architect in our cong that used to do the all the building for new KH's in the UK. He worked full time for them, but only charged them a minimal fee, he was getting ripped off if you ask me but that was his ' choice '. My book study conductor was an accountant who did the UK's accounts at the Bethel, he also charged a minimal fee.
I don't know how it works now, but i would imagine that they would try to employ an active witness, if only to save money. But then again i may be wrong.

well it is official....i am out!.
got a call this morning to confirm usual social activities.. enrolled both kiddos in vbs at the various denominations locally (they all work together to have a vbs every other week throughout summer).. 3 jw mommies are allowing their kids to attend the sb vbs next week.. no invites to the dc, only pleas to drive up and co-host the hooky pool party.. i feel kinda guilty since i know many damn near everyone has have had such horrific experiences leaving.. i wanna tell everyone thank you!
because without this site and the fellowship i would still be a captive.
Welcome to life's little journey!
