It may be a better idea to show her one or two things at first, or even just hint at them. If you show her lots of info the JW mindset just kicks in and tars everything as apostate lies.

this question is for those who have attended another church since leaving the jw's.. i have considered attending a local church, firstly out of curiosity and secondly because i do enjoy discussing the bible with people and learning new thoughts on scripture.. the only thing that stops me though is crossing that line.
i guess it was a bit like when i first posted here, it took me ages to pluck up the courage and now what was the big deal?.
did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return.

Did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return. We've been indoctrinated with this 'false religion' notion for years, so i guess it's no wonder i am apprehensive about putting my foot in the door of another church.
Just wondered how others have felt about attending another church?

i saw one up close and personal because the jw annointed sister who was studying with me, told me that if i looked up every scripture in her (illegally gotten before the school started) pioneer school book and cut it out of old green nwts and pasted them in the margins, it would make her a stronger pioneer and jehovah would reward me.
and in the process i would learn where things were in the bible.. gosh what an incredible honor i was blessed with!
you know i did it..i didnt know a damn thing.
I still have mine from 1989, with my comments and footnotes lol
It's even got signatures and messages in the back from all those that attended my pioneer school, how nice lol

i'm talking about one you can have a beer with, talk to, etc.
one that won't snub you no matter what.
.
Yeah i did.
Stuck by me through thick and thin, always said if i ever got disfellowshipped he wouldn't stop talking to me. Continued his association with me after i faded, much to the disgust of some.
Eventually he faded, we are still best friends and have been since we were 14, some 25 years ago.

luke 23:42,43 (nwt)42"and he went on to say:'jesus remember me when you get into your kingdom.
' 43 and he said to him:' truly i tell you today, you will be with me in paradise.
in placing the comma after the word today, jesus is not as other translations interpret it saying he will be with him in paradise on that day.. .
bumping for a title

The admin. It is run by JW's.

Could a mod add a title to this thread as i cannot get back into it to edit it, thanks.
Soemthing along the lines of 'Luke 23:43..Truly i tell you today, you will be with me in paradise ? '
Thanks Paul

Luke 23:42,43 (NWT)42"And he went on to say:'Jesus remember me when you get into your kingdom.' 43 And he said to him:' Truly i tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.' "
In placing the comma after the word today, Jesus is not as other translations interpret it saying he will be with him in paradise on that day.
Other translations,
(NIV)42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[a]"
43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise"
(NASB)42And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" 43And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in (A)Paradise."
(KJV)42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
In the NWT placing a comma between today and You in Jesus' response, which gives a very different meaning to the scripture.
I have come across this argument to my surprise, that Jesus is recorded in the gospels as using the phrase "I tell you the truth" or "truly I tell you", in the NWT 78 times. Not once, not even in a single instance in the NWT is Jesus recorded as using the phrase "I tell you the truth today", or "truly I tell you today".
So my question is this, if in the NWT Jesus has never used the phrase "truly i tell you today", but 78 times said ,"truly i tell you", why in this one instance, would the NWT place the comma after the word today, in so doing giving an alternative meaning of Jesus' words?
Surely it's just to fit into WT doctrine of resurrection of the dead to an earthly paradise?
