I must say that I think JD does have a point, in that without pain, pleasure has no reference point and hence loses much of its essence. Life is a spectrum, and we can't truly experience one end without some knowledge of the other. Pain does have its place, and a critical purpose at that. It only becomes tragic when the scales are tipped too far to its side, which is unfortunately the case for many of us here. There is a big difference between pain that is sought out and pain that is inflicted.
Tyrone, your story about the lasagna touched me. I understand it and have experienced something similar. I think that post got to the heart of what Coco intended with this thread, and I thank you for sharing it -

what angers you about the truth
by stillajwexelder inthis angers me .
elders who will not make shepherding calls to comfort their brothers and sisters but as soon as that brother or sister puts one little foot out of line those same f-----g (sorry about the language but it really angers me ) elders can not move fast enough to form a judicial committee and then are so unmerciful - it makes me want to vomit literally

Twisting and caging and repressing people from birth, robbing them of decades of healthy happy life, stunting natural growth and learning, instilling fear, holding families hostage, making "damaged but free" a hard-earned goal at an unspeakably high price. And the obscenity of doing it all in the name of "truth."

That day.
Small deeds of kindness -- my one and only new thread on this forum was posted in distress. You, Coco, were the first to reply, and then immediately sent me a comforting PM. You probably don't remember me, but I will always remember you :-)

Just a PRUDENT Reminder in These Days of Rampant Forums
by BabaYaga inthere have been countless "new forums" set up in the panic of the past few days.
i, personally, am concerned for those i care about here.
as a precaution first of all, do not join a forum hosted by anyone you do not know or have good reason to trust.

I've wondered the same as ozziepost mentions. I'm not saying she is or isn't legit, because I have no idea. But within hours of Simon's announcement, she had set up a new board modeled after this one and the group had rushed to "pass her the torch." That in itself seemed odd to me, because she'd only been here for a couple of weeks! And now I see people posting here offering to send money.
Like I said, I've no idea if she's legit or not, and I'm not trying to sound accusatory or anything (and no offense intended to amama2six or anyone else). I'm just saying, maybe we should all slow down a little bit. JWD will be operating as is for several months still, things are secure and moderated here, and there's plenty of time for new homes to develop and gel. I just think a mad rush into anything is generally a bad idea, and IMHO there are enough "things that make you go hmmm" with recent events that a little care and caution is warranted.
Just my two cents. -

Dearest Simon...please help some of our old (and banned) friends.....
by oompa inbeksbks and changeling for two..... i sense a kinder, gentler simon right now.
many people here had strong feelings with all the sudden news....and may have offended you.
you had every right to ban them.

The database here has not been stolen or compromised.
The references that were cited above refer to other boards - not this one.
Simon also expressed concern that if he handed the forum over to others there might not be the level of privacy that he sees as necessary for a discussion board like this one. And I agree with him 100% on thatThank you, Lady Lee. That was my interpretation and understanding; the confirmation is appreciated.

free2beme, I think there are two (or more LOL) conversations going on in this thread. I agree 100000% percent that JWO is a cesspool, and that letting rude nasty troublemakers back here is a horrible idea that shouldn't happen. But the two people mentioned in the original post of this thread -- changeling and beksbks -- have nothing to do with JWO and are not hateful pot-stirrers.
I'm just saying, I think it should be considered to allow those two specific individuals to return. NOT any of the nasty haters. -

Layla, my understanding from that was that some very nasty people on a vile site I won't name used those methods on their own forum(s) -- reading PMs, tracking people's IPs, viewing their info, etc. I am fairly certain that no breach has occurred here at JWD, but rather these haters have been around for years doing their "thing" elsewhere (just one more reason not to register there, folks!). If I have missed something and there has been an actual breach here, I would really like to know that because it is a threat to us all. I don't think that's the case though.

A lot of the banned posters, yes. Maybe even most of them. But changeling and beksbks? I was only referring to those two specifically, and I don't think either one of them is remotely connected to The Problem here.

I also would like to know who were the poster or posters that stole the database with our information.
What do you mean, what database? I know that Simon and others have been harassed and basically stalked by a group of hateful nasty people, but I had assumed that stemmed from people using the relatively common knowledge of name and location and going from there. Are you saying that the JWD database has been broken into/stolen/breached somehow? I did not know this, please someone point me to what I have missed.
As for the original post, I agree that changeling and beksbks should be allowed back. They were only banned during the heat of this latest blow-up, and I think the posting history of both demonstrates that they are friends of this board and the people on it.
